Not all recipes exclude all of the allergens!,

I bought this book because it listed all of the allergens that I need to avoid for my 2 year old daughter. When the book arrived, only a small percent of the recipes exclude all of the allergens listed. It was very dissappointing and I am still looking for a cookbook that excludes all of these things.

My favorite part of this book is that at the top of each recipe there are icons that tell you what it is free of. My second favorite part is that there are recipes for substitutes...like egg substitutes. Great book!

I was very disappointed with this cookbook, because the recipes are not ALL free of the allergens listed on the cover, but interspersed through out the book randomly free of dairy, or nuts, or wheat, or fish, etc... If you are cooking to avoid allergies, there are much more useful cookbooks out there. Try looking at Cybele Pascals cookbooks!

Thorough book with tons of variations,

My favorite part of this book, besides the complete explanation of food allergies at the beginning, is how varied the recipes are. A complete chapter of 'mixes' and substitutions for every type of allergy means that you can change each recipe to fit your particular allergy. If you're allergic to wheat, for instance, there are several mixes in that chapter you can use to substitute for flour. If you're allergic to eggs, there are a couple of egg substitutes you can make to use for eggs in recipes that call for them.
And the recipes are really good. There's nothing too fancy or difficult to make. I really love this book! |
