This book is well laid out with a large and varied amount of information, with plans for having formal baby showers to simple and casual ones. However, I found that it is lacking in recipe/food ideas, and that many of the games are those found in the plethora of other shower books available. I also found editing errors, such as (pg 203) a reference to "the bride" as opposed to the "new mom"... since this is a baby shower book, I felt that this was evidence of poor editing. It also does not do a good job of addressing the newer trend of men attending showers, or of dealing with having a teenage baby shower. Unfortunately, this is a realistic need, and is what I'm looking for. I did find several games that they will probably enjoy, guys included, but other than "Mystery Guest", nothing that I didn't find somewhere else. I am not impressed with this book, but will be using it anyway. It's not bad, but others are probably as good for less money.

What a terrific book! I found everything I needed to plan a shower fast, easily and with a lot of flair. From games and ideas to decorating tips to even a grocery shopping list, this book was way, way worth the price! A great find! We had a really fun shower!

If anyone is going to throw a baby shower,on any sort of budget, this is certainly and completely the book to get. There's everything in there from how to make easy invitations and recipes to games to play at the shower. It's very charmingly written, well-organized and makes it so logical and simple to do. This is the only baby shower book you'll ever need to buy. Check out the lists - they're great!

I bought this book with the intention of using it to help plan
my sister's baby shower. With the exception of one or two ideas,
I found the book to be of little use. I would recommend browsing through it at a bookstore (with pen and paper in hand)
or borrowing it from someone and saving the money to use towards
the shower you are planning.

I hope there are better books out there, because after reading this one, I'm still struggling to put together a classy shower. Many of the ideas seemed silly, and most of the games would make me run as fast as I could away from the shower.

I would not recommend this book. I simply thought that the ideas were self explanatory - they weren't as unique as they claim. It was well laid out, but it's hard not to have a good layout for one of these books. Take another look around before getting this book, I think there are some better ones out there.

I thought this book was charming. It contained everything I needed to think about so I didn't need to think! It's perfect for busy women who want to have it all at their fingertips, down to recipes and ideas for games and such. Sort of like "insta-shower planning". Some of the games may not be for every crowd, but all of them seemed like they'd be fun with the right people. I liked the format of this book - it was easy to find exactly what I needed and contained tons of information for me to choose from. Loved it! Well worth the money.

wow-too much information!! this book is a little too thorough in my opinion. it made me feel like i needed an army to help me throw a party. lots of info-but nothing too out of the ordinary if you ask me.

I used this book as a guide to throw a baby shower for my sister and my newborn nephew on March, 12, 2011. I found it to be quite helpful. I don't think it covers absolutely everything you'd ever want to know about Baby Showers, but it comes pretty darn close. The book's main idea is that you need to pick a theme for the shower and then "build" your shower based around that theme. There are dozens of theme ideas presented in this book. Some are very tried and true, traditional themes (Stork, Bun in the Oven) and some ideas that you wouldn't normally use for a shower, but can work under the right circumstances (Luau, Elvis). Each theme comes with ideas for recipies, decorations, gifts, invitations, games/activities etc... I ended up using the Nursery Decor theme since my sister was decorating my nephew's room with Winnie-the-Pooh. The best thing about this author's idea's is that it inspired a spark of my own creativity. I used some of her ideas that were meant for a completely different theme and tweaked it to fit what I was doing. In fact there are so many different party ideas in this book that I'm considering using them for birthdays, anniversaries and the like. If you are not the creative type and you don't want to have to think about a theme -- don't worry! There are lots of checklists, schedules, even a grociery list and a complete meal plan. The book is written in a personable, light-hearted prose. There are great tips about all sorts of little things, like name tags, music, photography, decorating, making your flower arrangements, menu guidelines, party favors, and so much more peppered all over the book. Sure, it has a lot of practical tips, but beleive me the last few crazy days before the party ... you'll be glad to have that common sense written down and accessible to you. All in all a great resource for anyone planning a party.

This book is really pointless. I bought it for ideas of themes. There were lots of ideas but rediculous and extravagant ideas. I just didn't get any useful info from it.
