A Pure Pleasure to Listen to,

Being a music fan, I want to be moved my what I listen to. Tripping Lily and this release in particular is a great time and very joyful. I have seen them live a few times and if you get the opportunity, do not let it go by. They have a very endearing stage presence.As an audiophile, I want a quality recording, with great miking and no compression. This release sounds great. Again, having seen them live a few times, I know what they should sound like and they convey that very well here. There have been a number of quality acoustic groups, Nickel Creek, Union Station, The Punch Brothers, etc. If you are fans of any of these, you should give Tripping Lily a try. They are not the same as any of the above, (who would want that, they have their material), but you will enjoy them all the same. Support these musicians; you will be glad you did, just like I am.

Won'r play in my Mac,

I love this recording, but it wouldn't play in my Mac. I even returned it and got another, but it was the same result. (I also tried a variety of other CDs in my Mac to make sure it wasn't my computer... all worked fine.) I ended up making a copy on another computer, adjusting the copy speed and then was able to play the copy through my Mac.

I heard Tripping Lily's "Alone" while watching "The Big C" and had to do some searching on message boards to identify the song. When I went to the previews and listened to just a couple clips of different songs, I fell in love and purchased the MP3 album. I'm not sorry that I did!Tripping Lily is hard to compare with other musicians. They've got a great mix, and I'm not sure what category I'd put them in. When I played some of it, my spouse wondered if I now liked "that kind of music." Well, sure! The lyrics are outstanding, the music quality is great and the songs are catchy and mellowing without seeming to try. The simplicity and use of the ukelele, fiddle and mandolin are sublime. They describe themselves as an "Acoustic Folk Pop Quartet," but don't be turned off by the "folk" part, which I wouldn't say I generally liked. I hope the group gets more exposure and continues to be supported so more great music can flow.
