5.0 out of 5 stars A Fun and Delightful Book that Has it All!
Well, I was expecting a lot out of this book because my daughter fell in love with her other book "Lunch". This book has definately lived up to my expectations. My 2 1/2 year old just adores it! It has everything that we try to teach our young ones. From the alphabet to seasons to numbers to shapes, Fleming uses her beautiful illustrations to dazzle your...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as the hardcover version
My son has the hardcover version of this book and he loves it. I love reading it to him before bed because it takes him through a bunch of pages and then it winds him down with some poems and more subdued pages. I purchased the board book to give as a Christmas present to my niece who is only 6 months old, but when the board book arrived I was disappointed to learn that...

Well, I was expecting a lot out of this book because my daughter fell in love with her other book "Lunch". This book has definately lived up to my expectations. My 2 1/2 year old just adores it! It has everything that we try to teach our young ones. From the alphabet to seasons to numbers to shapes, Fleming uses her beautiful illustrations to dazzle your eyes. Very fun and quite a long book for a picture book. I think one of my daughter's favorite things in this book is the challenge of finding the cute little ladybug(s) hidden in the illustrations. Highly recommended ~ any child will love it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating and beautiful, June 3, 2001

Me, I don't like this book all that much. My two-year-old, he ADORES it! Whenever he runs to get books to read, this is in the pile, and usually the first one. Though he has seen it many times, he still loves to go through the pages -- finding details we missed before, naming objects, imitating sounds.

The book begins with a rooster starting the day, followed by a hen and chicks waking up. From there you will see a baby eating with many objects (labelled) from a meal -- juice, toast, peas, egg, banana, spoon, milk, cereal. This is a typical page. To my mind not always very coherent, but colorful illustrations and lots to look at. Other pages include: Fruit Colors, Kitchen Toys, Shapes, the alphabet, counting, poems, seasons, animals, body parts, facial expressions .... basically, everything you can think of that a small child might be interested in. The book ends with the hen and chicks going to sleep.

I think there is a very good chance your child will love this book, too.

I purchased the board book to give as a Christmas present to my niece who is only 6 months old, but when the board book arrived I was disappointed to learn that it is missing many of the best pages from the hardcover version. I am returning it and ordering the hardcover version to give instead.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun! Fun! Fun!, August 17, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: The Everything Book (Hardcover)
I bought this for my son after reading the other reviews and everything they said was true. It has everything (ABC's, trains, cars, food, songs, seasons, counting, animals, body part recognition, etc.)! We have had it for over a year and it is still one of my almost two year old's favorite books. He loves the colors, pictures and has memorized just about every page. The poem at the beginning is the BEST and because of it, my son knew the difference between his right hand and left hand before he was a year old. Highly recommend for anybody ...

4.0 out of 5 stars fun on several levels, September 27, 2001
This review is from: The Everything Book (Hardcover)
The variety of stories and the colors are very appealing. My kids also had a lot of fun playing the "spot the ladybug" game where you pick a page and try to find the little red bugs.

5.0 out of 5 stars My 2 year old son loves this book!, September 17, 2003
By A Customer

He just turned 2, and he loves all the pages of this book. He loves the animals, and the kids faces, and to sing the ABCs on the ABC page! This is also a wonderful book to keep in the bathroom while potty training (LOL). It keeps him interested and in one place for a while, which is difficult to do with a 2 year old!
GREAT GREAT book for interested little kids!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book, October 1, 2003
This review is from: The Everything Book (Hardcover)
It's very diverse and colorful. It has a fun little game in the back where you can go through the book looking on every page for little hidden lady bugs. Makes the book fun and versitile. Love the book.

My granddaughter loved this title that I borrowed from the library. Bought a copy for her. She loves to find and count the ladybugs on nearly every page. A good concept book for pre-schoolers.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Happy Read, February 16, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

I decided to purchase this book as a baby shower gift after reading a copy of it we checked out from the library.
It is a happy book with big and bright illustrations. I liked that it contained poems that were not the same ones
one finds in most children's books. Yet the poems are simple enough for us to memorize.
This book is a great first book or a book to add to a children's book collection.

2.0 out of 5 stars "random" book with no story and no theme, July 7, 2010
By
a reader (Oxford, CT United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Everything Book (Paperback)
This is a random collection of pictures and phrases. I hardly think it qualifies as a book. There is no story and no theme to the book. The illustrations are lovely, but the text is confusing at best. Skip this one--it's not worth your time or money.
