In the Kitchen with Belinda October 16, 2009
Format:Paperback
Well, she's done it again. Belinda Hulin's Everything Soup, Stew & Chili cookbook is a must for the serious or not so serious cook. I was sold when I read the first chapter, and I hadn't even gotten to the recipes yet! In it she covers a multitude of helpful and fascinating topics, beginning with the evolution of soups and stews and ending with cautions on safety.
None of my adventures begin or end in the kitchen. I don't like to spend a lot of time preparing meals, but I do love to eat, and Ms. Hulin's Soup, Stew & Chili cookbook satisfies all my requirements.
The book is laid out in a simple, easy-to-understand manner. A quick glance to the left column gives you the ingredients with no nonsense instructions on the right for putting everything together to produce dishes welcome on any table.
I can hardly believe I actually made little pork pies. Delicious pork pies, I might add, and her history and directions for making Cincinnati chili have done nothing if they haven't improved my marriage to a true blue Cincinnati native. All these years I've heard about Cincinnati chili and now I can make it not one, not two, but five ways!
I can't recommend the book too highly, even to those more adventurous in the kitchen than I.

My "Go To" Book for Soups January 3, 2010
Format:Paperback
Just in time for fall, Adam's Media releases The Everything Soup, Stew & Chili Cookbook by Belinda Hulin. It is the latest in Adam's EVERYTHING Cookbook series. This makes the third book Hulin has penned in the series.

For her latest compilation Hulin has collected and/or created 300 recipes that range from classic to avant garde. Among the traditional you'll find Italian Wedding Soup, Chicken Tortilla Soup, and Creole Seafood Gumbo. Some of the new fangled samples are Warm Apple Cranberry Stew and Pizza Stew.

Among the fifteen chapters you'll find one devoted just to chicken soup variations, two dedicated to chili (All-American and International) and even one chapter of kid friendly recipes. There's even a chapter of dessert soups.

In addition to the 300 recipes Hulin has also packed a wealth of knowledge including a list of proper soup making equipment. The tome is also packed with information and tips to make your soup making experience more enjoyable. But for me the best part were the mini-essays that take one through proper stock and broth production and a wealth of historical background on the evolution of soups.

The Everything Soup, Stew & Chili Cookbook is an excellent addition to any cookbook collection especially one that is missing a soup anthology.

Very Good... August 11, 2010
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
My family and I are all passing around and sharing this cookbook. Even though it's in the really hot part of summer, we've tried a few of the chili recipes and we've liked them a lot. We are huge chili nuts so of course that would be our start in this book. Grab the cookbook, we enjoy it, I think you would too.

Glad it was free..
I am extremely glad it was free. It is a small little book with recipes everyone already knows, or that come up after a basic search on the Internet.
