Editorial Reviews

'Everything Comes And Goes' represents Branch's first project since she enjoyed her first country smash with 200's acclaimed album 'Stand Still, Look Pretty' by The Wreckers, the duo with which Branch made an inspired vocal and songwriting collaboration that was nominated for both a CMA Award and a Grammy. The popularity of The Wreckers helped establish Branch as a fixture of country radio. True to its philosophical title, 'Everything Come And Goes' documents what became a complicated and emotional time in the life of Branch, who first moved to Nashville four years ago with her musician husband Teddy Landau to make music and start a family. According to Branch, 'Everything Comes And Goes' - produced by John Leventhal and John Shanks ('My Two Johns,' Branch calls them with a laugh) - reflects what she calls 'two break-ups the past year or two.' Born in Sedona, Arizona, Branch took voice lessons at eight, got her first guitar by fourteen, and instantly became obsessed with songwriting. That same passion resulting in Branch releasing her first independent album 'Broken Bracelet' and signing her first major label record deal with Maverick before she turned eighteen.

Her music and lyrics are wonderful.

I already listened to "Sooner or Later" and absolutly loved it, so I couldn't wait to hear the songs on this.

More than good enough to hold me over until her next album.

I have gotten hold of 6 of the tracks on this upcoming CD and so far it is amazing. I love her new style and her voice is as good as ever if not better. I love all the tracks but my favorite has to be Crazy Ride, in this one she really shows off her vocal strength and the lyrics are simply amazing.

I have been listening to this album on repeat in my car for the past three days. I love every single song. Some of them are more "twangy/countryish" than others, but on the whole. a solid 6 song EP. I had high hopes, but had set my expectations low. I love love LOVE this album. and if you read any of my other CD reviews, you'll see that if I don't like a CD by my favorite artists, I will say so.

Each song is unique. There's no "blandness" here. And I am especially moved by "I Want Tears". Just gorgeous. Please buy this. I want a full CD from this amazing singer/songwriter, please. Again....welcome back Ms. Branch.

Amazing EP. I really love her collaboration with Hillary Lindsey, one of my favourite songwriters. My only wish is that Everything Comes And Goes would have been released as a full lenght cd like it was supposed to. It would have been such an amazing album. What a shame that Michelle has trouble releasing her cd's. I bet she has tons of material which we never get to hear, unfortunately. I really love her doing country and I wish she would continue to do country. I want a full lenght country album from Michelle. And she should keep on writing with Hillary Lindsey!

I really love this EP, even though it only has 6 songs on it, they are all GOLD!!!! Definitely a must-have for all hardcore Michelle Branch fans, especially if you like the stuff she did with The Wreckers. While her sound on this EP is way more country than The Spirit Room and Hotel Paper, I still really love it and the direction she is taking seems to fit her quite nicely. I ordered this from New Zealand and it got to me in a matter of weeks which was AWESOME! Thanks Amazon :-)

Another perfect batch of songs from the multi-talented Michelle Branch. This EP was originally supposed to be a full length album, and I have since heard most of the tracks that were supposed to be on this release, alongside those chosen for this EP, and there are ALL amazing. I do NOT know what the HELL Warner Bros. is doing with Michelle and her career, but they are basically snuffing the life out of it. Every song on this EP is PERFECT country/pop-rock. Beautiful melodies, strong song-writing, great hooks. Michelle has never sounded better. Yet this release was delayed time and time again, then just unceremoniously released as en EP in 2010, with little or no fanfare, and without all the rest of the tracks that were supposed to be on here. Thank goodness Michelle was able to temporarily offer downloads of some of the cast-off tracks on her website. I was lucky enough to grab some of them while they lasted. And "Long Goodbye" was released on Dwight Yoakam's latest CD (THANK YOU Dwight!). But what a bummer to build up the anticipation of us long-time fans to just keep delaying and delaying, and then dropping an EP. I can only imagine how frustrating this is for Michelle. And don't even get me started on Warner delaying another of Michelle's albums... "West Coast Time". We were teased with this release several times over an almost 3 year period, and still the only thing to come of it was the single "Loud Music", which they did virtually NOTHING to support or promote. So another entire album scrapped. Michelle, hang tough. Hopefully they will release some form of all these unreleased tracks and call it an album, then they can do a "Greatest Hits", and then hopefully your contract will be OVER!!!!!Read more ›

"Sooner or Later" is a flat-out hit, made it worth buying the CD all by itself. But then I've been nuts about Michelle's music since it hit VH1 when she was just a teenager. The title track is also up to the grade she set with her debut and follow-up CDs. I know those were a tough act to follow. If you liked her "Wreckers" mode tunes you'll like this. I wish she played live more often!

So this is where catchy songs went ... This is "modern music" that my wife and I like. This is music that requires talent not just cussin' and groanin' ...

Country or Pop?
This definitely matters to me. I loved The Spirit Room and I liked a lot of Hotel Paper, both definitely pop. I detest country. If this CD is truer to the originals then I'd be a lot more interested, but I didn't buy anything from the Wreckers because the music just didn't appeal to me.

How many albums first week do you think this will sell?
This album may bomb (not that I want it to) although I think it will be superb quality wise. I think Michelles' best work to come is with The Wreckers.Maxim January 2004 (Michelle Branch) Read More

Everything Comes and Goes...
Blame the label and their confusion in how to market it...personally, who cares?? I just want new Michelle music out there, period...the label is worried more about the marketing than the music, and that's sad...I'm sure it will be great, and hybrids are more interesting than straight-up boring... Read More
