5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing : The Jeff Buckley of Country Music
I am constantly amazed by the lack of country male performers who can use a falsetto, and Josh Turner is perhaps the only man in country music who doesn't shy away from doing so. On this CD, he enters the high range of his voice multiple times - and this gives his music a special quality that you just cannot find in country music today. For that reason itself, this album...

3.0 out of 5 stars Good, but...
It's a good CD, but not great. It has some good songs, but also some pretty bland ones. His first album was outstanding, his second one was pretty good, and his third is just okay. Hopefully he'll stop this slide down the slope and make a stellar fourth.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing : The Jeff Buckley of Country Music, November 4, 2007
This review is from: Everything Is Fine (Audio CD)
I am constantly amazed by the lack of country male performers who can use a falsetto, and Josh Turner is perhaps the only man in country music who doesn't shy away from doing so. On this CD, he enters the high range of his voice multiple times - and this gives his music a special quality that you just cannot find in country music today. For that reason itself, this album is unique.

Second, this is a very traditional country album. When I first heard it on my Ipod, I was at a loss to describe it. At best, it closely resembles Lee Ann Womack's "Theres more what that came from" CD from a few years ago, in terms of being very orthodox in country music sensibilities. However, what sets this apart, is that despite its very George Strait/Randy Travis overtones, this has a personality all its' own. You can't compare this to Garth Brooks or Gary Allan, simply because they don't make country music like this.

"Everything Is Fine", "Firecracker,", and "Nowhere Fast," a duet with Anthony Hamilton of R&B fame are all great songs. The latter especially is very harmonious. I would say this despite Carrie Underwoods stellar "Carnival Ride" and Reba's "Duets" CD from earlier this year, this album is the Country Album of the Year 2007 for me.

Aside for rock fans who like country - this guy sounds a lot like Jeff Buckley gone country, and is definitely worth checking out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Josh Turner Everything Is Fine, November 29, 2007
This review is from: Everything Is Fine (Audio CD)
Grand Ole Opry member and multi-platinum MCA recording artist Josh Turner gives us down home charm and humor on his latest release "Everything Is Fine." The baritone voice of Josh is so smooth and pleasing to the senses it's like butter melting on your favorite stack of griddle cakes!!! "Everything is Fine" was produced by Frank Rogers, who has also produced hits for Brad Paisley and Darryl Worley!!

The title song "Everything Is Fine" written by Josh Turner, tells us what life is like in Josh's "world." It's a neighborly song and one you would expect to hear from Mr. Turner. It makes you feel calm, thankful and happy to be alive.

The fun loving song "Firecracker" released before the album's debut quickly rose to the top of the charts. Josh co-wrote this song with Pat McLaughlin and Shawn Camp. The opening verse gives us Josh's signature deep-throated voice, catching our attention and roping us into this catchy tune!!! This song is so much fun!! Who would have ever thought??!!!

Josh shares vocals on "Another Try" with special guest and three time Grammy award winning songstress Trisha Yearwood. Their voices blend beautifully while they tell us about a relationship filled with regret. This song was written by Chris Stapelton and Jeremy Spillman.

With "So Not My Baby" we get some bluesy/country sounds. It tells the tale of a love he wished he had, but lost. We feel the angst of love's rejection. Shawn Camp and Phillip Lammonds co-wrote this tune.

"Trailerhood" appears to be Josh's tribute to John Anderson. It's reminiscent of some great songs we know and enjoy from Mr. Anderson. This is one to play "loud" as you are cruising down the highway!! Make sure you have the radar detector on the dash!!

"Baby I Go Crazy" has an up beat tempo and I can see folks line dancing on a hardwood floor like there's no tomorrow!! Josh and John David Anderson penned it.

Anthony Hamilton and Kelvin Wooten are responsible for this one!!! "Nowhere Fast" pairs Josh with R&B soul singer/songwriter and record producer Anthony Hamilton. (For Whom Josh is a big fan of) Talk about smooth!! Josh really nails it here!! When we think of country music and R&B we can't even see the connection. The two genres are different we say, but hearing these two spectacular voices together, we find a real treat!! The collaboration works!!

Every generation has it's war and the songs that go along with it .And so it is with "The Longer the Waiting" ( The Sweeter the Kiss.) The writers may not have meant it to be a "war" song, but many loved ones, with those in the military, will hold this song near and dear to their hearts. Kudos to Pat McLaughlin and Roger Cook!!

Then there's "One Woman Man" which was previously recorded by George Jones in 1989 and co-written by the legendary Johnny Horton and Tillman Franks in 1956. It's a light-hearted, toe tapping tune that really gets you going. Josh pays fine tribute to both Johnny and George, but manages to make it his own.

"Soulmate" is a warm, gentle, loving song that any woman would want their man to croon for them. Josh and John David Anderson delight us with this dedication to a better half. This is how we all want our significant other to feel about us, isn't it?? Light some candles turn down the lights and slow dance to this one!!

You'll be inspired by the story behind "The Way He Was Raised." Josh's love for his creator's son shines through on this melody he co-wrote with Mark Narmore and Bobby Tomberlin. It's a fine, inspirational song that could very well become a classic tune at Christmas.

The last track is "South Carolina Low Country" written by Josh. Appearing autobiographical, Josh takes us on a journey that tells of his love for the region he hails from and how it has influenced and shaped his love for the music he shares with us all. We feel his emotion and allegiance to his southern roots.

Josh has done it again. He takes us to a place where we can let go, feel blue, laugh out loud and thank the heavens above. I love this album!! It's a fine addition to any music collection. With Christmas around the corner, it makes the perfect

Gift!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Country music at its finest, October 30, 2007
This review is from: Everything Is Fine (Audio CD)
Josh Turner comes back with his fourth album keeping the tradition in country music. From the beginning to the end, the album shows the levels of success this newest member of the Grand Ole Opry can achieve. Turner's vocals shine with "The Longer the Waiting" and the first hit single off the album, "Firecracker." Trisha Yearwood fills in as a guest spot on "Another Try" to blend beautifully with Josh Turner's vocals. The surprise on the album and probably one of the strongest tracks is the song written and sang along with, Anthony Hamilton's "Nowhere Fast."

Overall this album is well worth purchasing for the country music fan who loves to hear the traditional sounds of country music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Everything IS Fine!, October 31, 2007
This review is from: Everything Is Fine (Audio CD)
Josh Turner's latest project entitled Everything is Fine, was released on October 30th. Give the CD a listen let me tell you EVERYTHING IS FINE! It is a solid country CD and in my opinion the best country album of the year. The title track Everything Is Fine starts of the album, it is filled with smart witty lyrics, and a great vocal performance by Turner. His hit single Firecracker is next, Bang! Trisha Yearwood is featured on Another Try, and makes a beautiful duet partner for Turner. Trailerhood, is a fun song and the redneck song on the CD kind of like White Noise on the Your Man album. On Nowhere Fast Josh Turner is joined by Anthony Hamilton, their voices blend well. One Woman Man is a cover of the Johnny Horton song, and a good one it is you'll find yourself singing along before you realize what happened! The CD is packed with great songs I could go on and on........Soulmate, The Way He Was Raised, South Carolina Low Country, The Longer the Waiting (The Sweeter The Kiss), So, Not My Baby, and Baby,I Go Crazy. Go ahead and buy it you won't be sorry!

'Everything is Fine' by Josh Turner is as good as his CD 'Long Black Train'. I love all the songs on it. My favorites are 'Firecracker', 'Another Try (with Trish Yearwood)' and 'So Not My Baby'.

4.0 out of 5 stars Better than fine, August 29, 2008
This review is from: Everything Is Fine (Audio CD)
This cd is great. My favorite track is the aong he does with Anthony Hamilton. But the entire CD is chocked full of great music. Turner's vocals are really sharp. The songs are better than his other albums in my opinion.

5.0 out of 5 stars CD with wear, June 25, 2008
This review is from: Everything Is Fine (MP3 Download)
This CD is in my truck right now, and it must be showing some wear! I am really enjoying it! I bought it for the duet with Trisha, but have left it in my CD player for the quality of the overall work. Josh continues to impress me with his vocal strength and style and well as his ability to make a truly "Country" album!
My kids enjoy this album with me too. Best of all, I don't have to skip over songs or stop them from singing foul words in lyrics! A family album is hard to find these days.

Outstanding, awesome cd. Josh Turner has one of those voices you don't hear often, but when you do, it is fantastic. His smile adds a lot to his videos. Songs go from upbeat to slow and romantic. Must have.
