I checked this book out from my local library, started baking some of the recipes, re-checked the book out and then decided that this is a cookbook I want to buy. I'm a bit stingy when it comes to buying new cookbooks, but this is one I highly recommend for purchase if you have any interest in incorporating flax into your cooking and baking.

I also checked out this book from my public library like the smart reader above.
The first section naturally expounds on the virtues of flax. Great color pictures are provided of the finished products.
The problem I have however, are the amount of carbohydrates per serving, many are in the 50's grams.

The recipes listed in the summary here on amazon don't begin to cover the scope of what I like best in the book. The book includes many, many recipes that are what I'd call everyday "please the whole family" foods. There are several cookie and muffin recipes that are absolutely delicious.

I started incorporating more flax (usually ground, but sometimes whole because we like the crunch) into recipes a couple years ago. This book will be a really good standard guide to expanding my efforts.

The intended purpose of eating healthy goes right out the window with the carb overload. Flour, sugar and an assortment of fruit is called for in many of the recipes. For many people this kind of eating leads to weight gain and an imbalance in their blood glucose.
A better choice would be to replace the flour with almond flour, the sugar with stevia and the fruits with berries in moderation in order to bring down the carbohydrates to a sensible amount, perhaps between 10 to 20 grams per serving which is still on the high side.
