I'll never forget my first taste of real, Italian gelato. Soon after I was married, I was fortunate enough to travel for several weeks across Europe with my husband and our close friends.  Our first night in Italy comprised of a gondola ride, pizza margherita, and two scoops of the most decadent coconut gelato I have ever eaten.  Since then, I've had more than my fair share of the frozen delight, and make it a point to sample new and exciting flavors whenever I find myself in any Italian city.  As research, of course!
Since beginning my food blog three years ago, I have experimented at great lengths with ice creams, sorbets and gelatos in my own kitchen, and have loved the results.  Everything from the simplest granitas, to fresh sorbets, to decadent ice creams, and of course, gelato, have been included in this book, as well as special chapters for vegans and those requiring sugar-free recipes.  You'll also find wonderful ice cream cakes, pies, and other spectacular frozen desserts here too!
It is my hope that you will experiment with my recipes, stir up your own childhood (or adulthood!) memories, and perhaps create a few special memories for your own children or grandchildren.  Buon appetito!

I just love this. I'm a good cook, and have used and read a ton of cookbooks, including several about ice creams, and this is one of the best. This book covers ice creams, sorbets, gelatos, sherbets, and accompanying items like cakes, syrups, brownies, and fruits. The recipes aren't just variations on one formula, but have a variety of techniques and basic ingredients (heavy cream or coconut milk or tofu, etc.) The recipes are clearly written, so the beginner knows just what to do, and there are enough different kinds to give the experienced maker material, including some good flavor combinations and a few unusual twists. There are sugar-free and vegan sections. It's practically perfect! I had a copy home from the library, and have just put one in my Amazon cart - it's a keeper.

Not only is there your typical vanilla, chocolate and strawberry flavors, Susan has an amazing Dreamy Orange Ice Cream that is reminiscent of those childhood favorite dreamsicles, artisan flavors plus classics like Butter Pecan. I highly recommend this cookbook for yourself and for gifts. My mother and mother in law both have June birthdays and this is what they are getting. I know they will love it as much as I do. Ice cream is the chosen dessert at my house with my husband and three boys and I look forward to trying every single recipe!

I purchased my first ice cream maker and at the same time, bought this recipe book. I have to say that this book covers everything! From ice cream to gelato and even cookie recipes. I have tried a few so far and am quite happy. the lemon cream ice cream is awesome! I have tried a few others, too and all have met with rave reviews from my family.

I have a Cuisinart Pure Indulgence Ice Cream maker, and was looking for some different recipes for it. This book is wonderfully informative, and has some wonderful recipes. It's very versatile, and has recipes for ice cream (both regular and sugar-free,) gelato, frozen yogurt, sorbet, sherbet, granitas, etc. There aren't any illustrations, but it doesn't detract from it's charm. There are very detailed explanations, which make it easy for anyone to use. I definitely recommend this wonderful book!

Not your average chocolate, vanilla and strawberry recipes. Many tasty and delicious recipes for gelatos and custards, as well as ice cream. There are even vegan ice creams. Great book.

I made two recipes from this book. The first was coffee ice cream. It tasted okay, but the texture was much too icy. It used sweetened condensed milk and hardly any cream. It also gave me stomach upset. Next I tried the decadent chocolate ice cream recipe. The whole time I was making it, I thought the amounts did not seem like they would make enough. It was supposed to yield 1 quart and, sure enough... I barely got 2 1/2 cups! I haven't churned it yet but I can't judge the flavor of this recipe since I had to make another 1/2 batch from another recipe to add to this one just to get enough mixture to fill my ice cream machine. I won't be making more recipes from this book.
