An excellent, definitive, "user friendly" how-to guide.,
By Midwest Book Review (Oregon, WI USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Everything Get Published Book (Everything) (Paperback)
The Everything Get Published Book is a definitive, step-by-step, "how to" instructional guide for turning book ideas into published works. Peter Rubie's easy-to-follow instructions on how to write proposals, get an agent, attract the attention of editors and publishers are solid, sound, and essential. Peter Rubie draws upon his expertise and experience as a veteran of the publishing industry, having been an editor, authors, and presently, a literary agent with his own firm of Perkins, Rubie and Associates in explaining how the publishing industry really works and how to adapt to the system and get published. The Everything Get Published Book is enhanced for the aspiring author with hundreds of names of book publishers, executives, and literary agents. Also covered is the new phenomena of electronic publishing, writing seminars, author networking, and a great deal more!

This review is from: The Everything Get Published Book (Everything) (Paperback)
As an author - The Ghostwriter Mystery Series - and thenon-fiction, Foxy Forever ...and a very happy client of the PeterRubie Literary Agency - I suggest you buy, read and heed his advice! When I started working on Ghostwriter, I had no idea that my idea could become a series! However, my agent, Peter Rubie, knew and sold my proposal as a three book deal. The invaluable tips of the trade that he shares in this comprehensive, fun-to-read text book can be your path to publication. I'm thrilled that Peter opted to use my Ghostwriter proposal as a fiction sample in his The Everything Get Published Book. I teach workshops at the Writer's Center in Bethesda, MD and at the Florida Center for the Book in Fort Lauderdale. Peter Rubie's book has been added to my program!

Being a total novice to the publishing industry I found The Everything Get Published Book by Peter Rubie pretty helpful. It covered everything from writing tools, marketing yourself to an agent, to P.O.D. publishing. I also found it to have a fairly good reference section with agents names and addresses as well as publishing companies and their URL's. Some where outdated, but the book was copyrighted in 2000 also. Overall I found a worthwhile read.

I have so many story ideas floating around in my head. Not unlike an idea for a dress or a purse, I have no clue how to get it from my head on to paper in a concise way. I think this book will be a great learning tool!

general information too precise that it doesnt really help you. Very very basic and you can find the information just surfing the net, but that its put in a book but it doesnt offer anything more or helpful.

I was disappointed with this book. It seems to be outdated, and it did not give me much of an incite as to how to get published.
