Book Description

October 2002
This book sheds light on many of life's nagging mysteries. If you've been wondering why you were born, what death is, and why there can be so much pain in-between . . . if you question your choices, aren't sure about the people you attract into your life, and would love to stop making the same "mistakes" over and over again . . . then read on. For 25 years, Suzane Northrop has been working as a trance medium and has come to enjoy an international reputation for integrity, accuracy, and responsibility. Over the years Suzane's work has brought meaning to the messages from our loved ones who have passed to the bond of love between the living and the dead. Now, in this unique work, she examines the relationship between those who have passed over, our own souls and the lessons we are here to learn-or our Soul Program-and shows unequivocally that everything happens for a reason. Why are we here? We are in this life for a purpose-whether we're aware of it or not-and that purpose is to learn, to accomplish what each soul has chosen as its program, and that could mean anything. It's whatever our souls need to learn. It might be patience or self-reliance or dealing with loss or compassion. Each soul has a different program; no two souls need to learn or accomplish exactly the same thing. The soul's path is to grow, and each path is unique for each soul. What is death? Death is a new beginning. One of the greatest misconceptions people can have about death is to think of it as an ending. While it may be the conclusion of one specific phase of a soul's journey, death is just as surely the beginning of the next. It's simply another phase of transition in the evolution of our soul's ongoing existence and quest for growth, lived, at least temporarily, on another plane. If it were a play, it would be the next act. If it were a book, it would be the next chapter. What's with all the pain? Without free choice, life would have no real purpose. We'd all just be sitting around waiting to find out what someone else had decided was going to happen to us. Words like morality, ambition, motivation, good, and evil would have no meaning. Our free will gives us the power of choice, but it can cause hurt. If we keep making the same choice, and each time we make the choice it causes us pain, it's because we haven't yet learned from experience to make a different choice the next time. No one is punishing us; we're simply punishing ourselves. But, again, there's a reason. We are in a time of decision. Will we remain satisfied living in a space of denial, ignorance, and unresolved issues? This is a time that is calling each and every one of us to step up to the plate with a deep dedication to our loved ones, our relationships, our lives, and ourselves. We are called to learn how to live and speak our truth with love, compassion, understanding, and forgiveness-for others and ourselves. We are excitingly on the threshold of the old and new, of light and dark, of illusion and truth, and adventure and complacency. There is no doubt there is a reason we find ourselves at the point we are in time. We have created it . . . for a reason.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Read, February 19, 2003
By
This review is from: Everything Happens for a Reason (Hardcover)
To really believe that "everything happens for a reason" even though we may not understand what the reasons are at this moment, tomorrow, or even at a later time is a concept to me that is truly mind-boggling. Knowing that everything has a purpose can make you stop and reflect on why situations happen, become aware of unresolved issues, and look at life differently. If you are searching for an understanding of why life on earth is often painful and unfair, or just a reason of what our purpose is in life----this book is a must read.

4.0 out of 5 stars something new?, February 19, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Everything Happens for a Reason (Hardcover)
This book scored highest for its clarity and straightforward style. It make the point that these issues of life and afterlife can be discussed in a sipmple manner that is not simplistic. Similar books often become highly esoteric and end up talking about ideas rather than realities. The treatment of liffe experience as being educative can seem a little narrow and therefore superficial but this book makes a convincing case for experience having some sort of educative purpose that is unique to each one of us. Although the book will probably not convince those that are predisposed against these kinds of issues , afterlife and such, it is a good read and communicates to a broad readearship base. It is written with aparent courage in that there are no vague outs for the author. she simply gives a straightforward account of her experiences with real stories that she believes in. This gives it a refreshing style. There is a strong emphasis on choice and freedom and is therefore very western in slant, but this makes it appealing as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars I was led to this book for a reason!, April 8, 2005
This review is from: Everything Happens for a Reason (Hardcover)
Two days after losing my father, I was walking down the aisle in a bookstore looking for "Walking on the Wind", a book on Native American Spirituality. I have always believed that things happen for a reason from my own perspective, when my eyes made contact with this book I picked it up. As I glanced through the pages it was as if I didn't realize that it was about the afterlife and mediums, I had never really thought much about that stuff, especially mediums, and most likely, in my clear mind, wouldn't buy such a book...it wasn't until I had bought it and several days later started to read it, that I really realized what it was about. I never buy a book without knowing clearly what it is about, I always glance through the pages to get a good understanding of it, as I did with this book, but for some "reason" I didn't get the real picture of the book, just that it was a spritual book and seemed good.

Consequently, this book has spoken to me in a way that has opened me up to the accpetance and understanding of something that has been around me all my life; sensitivity to other planes.

On a flight from Denver to LA, returning to China where I live, after an unplanned return home for my father's failing health and finally death, I was sitting next to a man who, through gradual converstion, turned out to have psychic powers. He told me that I have psychic tendencies of some kind, that my father is very proud of me and that I have some lower abdominal blockage and should be careful by eating more fruits and vegetables. The last one was the clincher because I hadn't had a bowel movement (sorry) in almost 4 days!

I still hadn't started reading the book and didn't do so until the flight back to China.

Now, I just finished it 5 minutes ago and have learned much from this book. Of course, one person resounded that this book is only to make the author more well known, but as for me, I am coming from a very laymen background in this stuff so I need spoon feeding, unlike the select few who may already be well versed in this medium stuff. This book is clearly not written for the medium but for the "small", the person who knows little about this phenomenon. I wouldn't pick up a "Jack and Jill" book at 40 years of age and expect it to speak to me at any depth. There again "Everything Happens for a Reason".

Through reading this book I have become open to my father's passing, which I experienced first hand, standing at his death-bed-side remeniscing of the times we spent together and thanking him for some of the little things I may have never mentioned.

From the start, each event had been prefaced by a premonition where I knew what I had to do without any question; I had to return home, I had to stay with him through the night on the night of his passing (even though my mind was telling me to go home and sleep).

By reading this book, I now know he is with me and has visited me and expressed his on-going love for me, I even know that my most treasured pet had given me signs, 4 years ago when he passed, to let me know he is OK. I believe they are all happy and will be there for me, along with others that I may not even be aware of.

This book, no matter how simple and trite it may seen to other meduims, has deffinately spoken to me and has introduced and lead me to a new plane of perception.

Peacefully,
Reader
