4.0 out of 5 stars The quick and the funny ...
I enjoyed this book partly because I happen to enjoy Ray Romano's comedic style. If you like the TV show then you will probably like this book.

I'd definitely recommend the audiobook over the paper version b/c it's all about the delivery! Do be forewarned though that there is so profanity in the book. It's not used flagrantly but if that sort of stuff...

3.0 out of 5 stars A little disappointing
Since a lot of reviews have already been submitted for this book, I will skip the general background information and launch straight into my opinions. First, the publisher played some games with the book. The spacing and type font make it look much longer than it is. Instead of 209 pages it's really more like 100 pages of material. I'd definitely recommend the audiobook over the paper version b/c it's all about the delivery! Do be forewarned though that there is so profanity in the book. It's not used flagrantly but if that sort of stuff offends you, you may want to take heed. If you buy the audioversion then just don't listen to it with the kids in the car unless you want them to repeat the bad language - it's promient enough for them to pick up on it. This is a very quick read and if you have kids you will certainly appreciate many of the stories that Ray shares with his audience. They are very funny. Worth purchasing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Extremely funny!, November 30, 2004
This review is from: Everything and a Kite (Hardcover)
Don't expect any detailed plots or intelligent twists and turns. This book is hilarious because it focuses on Ray and his view of life. If you like his kind of funny, you will love this book.

Recommended for Ray fans!

And why shouldn't it be? The book, like the show, is observational comedy based on his own family. Every page seemed to have something on it that would garner at least an audible chuckle, if not better. But one warning......don't read this when you're around your spouse/significant other, though. You'll end up reading it a second time out loud!

5.0 out of 5 stars this is a quick read, January 11, 2000
This review is from: Everything and a Kite (Mass Market Paperback)
First off, I'm not even a big fan of Everybody Love Ramond. I watch WWf Wrestling instead. But I bought his book because I have seen Ray on tv and I thought he was kinda funny. And this book was very funny. I really enjoyed it. He told a lot of great stories about being a Dad and his love of soup and pistachios. I had to put the book down a couple times because I was laughing so hard. If anyone knows of another book this funny, let me know.

I enjoyed Ray Ramano's book more than any other comedian's book I've read. It's laid back but still halarious. Keep it up Ray!

3.0 out of 5 stars A little disappointing, May 24, 1999

Since a lot of reviews have already been submitted for this book, I will skip the general background information and launch straight into my opinions. First, the publisher played some games with the book. The spacing and type font make it look much longer than it is. Instead of 209 pages it's really more like 100 pages of material. I understand the realities of business require this kind of thing once in a while, but this book went way too far with the stretching. Second, I thought that a lot of the material was a little stale. I felt like I heard a lot of it before. Otherwise, the book is funny and worthwhile. Don't get me wrong--I'm a big *Everybody Loves Raymond* fan and enjoyed the book. My advice: snag it from the bargain bin

4.0 out of 5 stars Someone you can really relate to, Ray Romano., December 30, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Everything and a Kite (Hardcover)
In Ray's highly funny book, Everything and a Kite, he explains funny situations that has happend to him in the recent and non-recent past. He focus' his story a lot on his kids. I think they have been an inspiration mainly in his life. He also makes sure that everyone in his family has a say in his book,he wouldn't want to leave anyone out now. This book really made me laugh out loud. If I was you read this book when there is no one around, unless you like people looking at you awkwardly! His real life almost portrays his television show to a "T." I would highly recommend this book to anybody, except for young children. It does have a little profanity, but not a lot.

4.0 out of 5 stars Do the audio, January 5, 2010
This review is from: Everything and a Kite (Mass Market Paperback)
Ray Romano isn't just a somewhat decent actor who is able to take someone else's script and act it out in a semi-humorous manner. Romano proves here he is a genuinely funny guy. I think it's much harder to write great humor than to speak or act it. That's one reason why I recommend the audio version of this book, which is done by Romano himself. He has the gift of taking incidents in life that aren't necessarily hilarious and making them hilarious by his peculiar take on them. If you're stressed out on life (and who isn't) pick up the audio and play it on your way to work. Other drivers will think you're a little psycho for laughing alone while at a stop light, but, what the heck. Life is short. (Do be aware that there's a little language used)

5.0 out of 5 stars Comic advice on marriage, kids, July 24, 2009
This review is from: Everything and a Kite (Mass Market Paperback)
Ray Romano has written a very funny book about the challenges of marriage and parenthood, staying in character with the sad sack, loveable loser we know and love from Everybody Loves Raymond. It's not an autobiography, although he includes references to his family; instead it's a stand-up comedy routine with gags and punch lines and just a few brief glimpses into the real loving husband and father.

This is a short book with very large spacing, so it's a quick read. It did drag a bit toward the end, almost as if he ran out of jokes, but the rest is comedy gold. You can just picture him rolling his eyes, hanging his head, and delivering the lines with Ray Barone's deadpan expression. It would be fun to listen to the audio book. If you're a fan of his show, you'll love this book. I did.

4.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining, January 12, 2004
This review is from: Everything and a Kite (Hardcover)
I like Ray Romano, so I was really glad that my mother gave me this book. Ray doesn't disappoint. Whether he's talking about marriage, his kids, or sex, it's all funny. There were a couple of spots where I laughed out loud, and I rarely do that when reading. This is one of those books that you'll be quoting to your spouse, "Hey, honey, you gotta hear this!"

It was a little slow at first, but it got better. His footnotes alone were worth it.
