Motörhead are a mindset, a belief, a way to live your life, a way to both survive and beat a society that sometimes seems intent on grinding you down.

That is why Motörhead have chosen now, in what might… Read more in Amazon's Motörhead Store

5.0 out of 5 stars Live Motorhead - Face warts and all, June 22, 2003
By
This review is from: Everything Louder Than Everyone Else: Live (Audio CD)
If the world faces nuclear disaster, the only surivors will be cockroaches and Lemmy. Lemmy will find the two most talented cockroaches and another strong Motorhead line-up will rock the apocalypse. The most consistent band in rock 'n roll history offers us "Everything Louder Than Everyone Else," and it makes sense that their definitive statement is a live album. Motorhead makes excellent studio albums, but the heart of this band lies on stage and here is the proof. Thank God this current line-up has been together for a good 7 or 8 years now, as it may be Motorhead's best, and let's hope, for Mikkey and Phil's sake, my cockroach prophecy doesn't come to pass.

5.0 out of 5 stars A remarkable document of a one-of-a-kind rocker, September 19, 2000

It's hard to describe this LP without resorting to empty words like "amazing" or "awesome." It's an incredibly heavy, fast, and consistent recording from a single live performance. Most notable is the vocal strength that a 52-year-old Lemmy Kilmister maintains; he roars like a jet engine throughout this nearly two-hour performance, and gets stronger as he goes. His delivery of the disc's one ballad, "Lost In the Ozone," must be heard to be believed. You'd think his voice would have been gone by age 35 singing like this. The expected old favorites and a good batch of newer numbers are all given a top-notch performance by the current lineup (including superhuman drummer Mikkey Dee), and Lemmy's inimitable between-song chatter is as charming as ever ("This is a slow one, so's you can fall in f---ing love.")

5.0 out of 5 stars ARGH! Still Not Loud Enough!!!, May 6, 2001

As expected, this totally rocks! In the continuing saga of live Motorhead releases, this is probably the most massive of the set. This is obviously so because of the fact that it's a double CD of nothing but the best of Motorhead's raucous and ferocious live tunes. Die hard fans will of course still swear by "No Sleep `til Hammersmith", and there's no complaint here about that absolute classic, but this one accurately chronicles well over two decades of belligerent, swaggering rock and roll Lemmy-style. It's really a treat to hear how this incarnation of Motorhead has become a force to be reckoned with in the live arena. Hey, even the most talented musicians can have horrible live chemistry, right? Thankfully, there's no evidence of that anywhere here. Strangely enough, they've gotten so sonically tight and comfortable with one another that they can let loose, get laid-back, and have fun without an ounce of sloppiness. Perhaps that's the key to this live show - they're having a blast, and it shows. When I listen to it, I honestly don't feel that they've left out any strong live tunes from their set. A quick glance at the track listing will impress just about every fan. In fact, there are even a few tunes that I was surprised to hear them perform, but these are the unexpected songs that change the pace a bit and spice up the dynamics - not to mention to give everyone a breather between the tons of rip-roaring classics! And as far as the sound quality goes, I've heard many studio records sound a lot worse than this. All of the instruments punch through the mix and stand out superbly; everything is pretty unhindered and produced rather well. No complaints there, either. In fact, after cranking up the cacophonous and particularly blazing rendition of "Iron Fist", the title of this CD becomes perfectly clear. In all honestly, for all of my many, many years as a fan of rock, metal, and all things extreme, I've never particularly liked live releases. Something about this double CD set broke the rules and surely changed my mind.
