Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal

Gr 7 Up--A book that offers broad but superficial coverage of a timely issue. The short chapters, large print, bold headings, and stock photographs are typical of the series. Rue begins with a brief introduction to peer mediation and the role it can play in resolving conflict. She goes on to look at the particulars: the rules, the skills needed, how peer mediators are trained, the typical step-by-step process involved, and how the techniques can be used to resolve different kinds of conflicts in a variety of settings. The author uses scenarios involving teens to illustrate her points. The book concludes with a directory of help resources. Schools with such programs in place or those considering the initiation of one may find this a useful addition.

Nancy Rue is the author of 110 books, including 9 novels for adults, 17 for teens, and 60 for tween readers, as well as 2 parenting books, 32 non-fiction books for tweens and teens, and the features for the FaithGirlz Bible.
