Review

This book is required reading for BYU graduate class in Public Management. "For a lighter more humerous, but still practical approach read Everything You Never Wanted To Know About Your Nonprofit Corporation by Ms. Cellaneous, the Unknown Attorney." Renee Heiss --Helping Kids Help, 2006; Chicago Review --BYU Bookstore, Augiest 2006, Helping Kids Help, 2006; Chicago Review

A Must-Have Reference Book! J.L., Coach, Former Non-Profit Org. Pres., 07/07/2005 This book should be read by everyone involved in a nonprofit organization from participants/members to the group administrators. This revealing information zeroes in on specific questions each involved member needs to ask their group. Many people do not know that once individuals join a group, each individual may bear a liability that the organization's administrators may not be guarding! They may not even know WHAT liabilities to watchdog! Awareness is the greatest defense. This book identifies what liabilities exist in the obvious AND the obscured realms. It gives real examples that have occurred, and concise questions every person can ask of their organization to avoid pitfalls. Great legal advise, easy reading, and a little humor to keep the reader's interest, make this a wonderful reference book for everyone to keep on hand. This book is a 'Must Read' for all levels of participants in any type of nonprofit group. --Barnesandnoble.com

I have a background in swimming and coaching. This book came highly recommended to me from a fellow coach. The information in here was eye opening. It helped me better understand the world that I am apart of and better prepare me to avoid the pitfalls of non-profit sports organizations. It was easy to understand and memorable.

First, this book was written with good intentions, and if you are starting a swim team or other organizations and you want to avoid dealing with shady people, etc. I would recommend reading it. However if you are looking for a book with general Not-for-Profit information in it, I felt this book fell short for me. The summary and all the similar glowing comments led me to buy the book, but in my opinion, the book is not well organized, and doesn't really provide the general information I was looking for to help my NFP knowledge. My Not-for-Profit is not in the sports arena, and so a good portion of the book wasn't really relevant. Kudos to the author however for her advocacy for safety of our young ones!

If you are starting a non-profit amateur sports club like I am, this book is ideal. It has everything, including sample Articles of Incorporation all the way to insurance waiver contracts. The discussion is very thorough as to what you will need to do to start a non-profit in general, and the horrible things that could go wrong. There are grammatical and formatting errors in this book, but if you can look past that to the actual content explained by a lawyer in plain english, it is well worth your money.

This is the book you need. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Concise and to the point, it hits on every realm of what you need to know when it comes to forming an maintaining a nonprofit organiztion. This book is inexpensive compared to everything else out there on the market, and it gives you what you need in words you can understand. It is written by an attorney,is based on the law, and is everything you could want in a book like this and more!

I bought this hoping for some great information on a Non-profit that I am now managing. This book has great information on how to work with a non-profit involving schools or childrens activities. I could only use some of the information for my purposes.
