This book takes the essence of Dr. Loren Cordain's The Paleo Diet: Lose Weight and Get Healthy by Eating the Foods You Were Designed to Eat and simplifies it for easy understanding. Dr. Cordain's book delved heavily into the scientific basis behind Paleo and the research supporting it. This book keeps it simple and mostly talks about the "how" of Paleo rather than the "why".

One thing to watch out for is the use of "off-limit" ingredients like edamame, wine, green beans, split peas, vinegar, alfalfa, etc. in certain of the recipes. At first, I was very puzzled about this. However, on the very last page of the book, there is a note that some of the included recipes were adapted from The Everything Glycemic Index Cookbook (Everything Series) and The Everything Anti-Inflammation Diet Book: The easy-to-follow, scientifically-proven plan to Reverse and prevent disease Lose weight and increase ... of aging Live pain-free (Everything Series). So it seems clear that it's a case of sloppy editing.

I was considering purchasing this book, so looked through the LOOK INSIDE portion provided. The recipes look good and I was pleased with the information that was being presented right up until I came to the comment about saturated fats that "clog arteries and promote heart disease". This is a false statement and a Paleo book of all places should have correct information about fats. Our paleo ancestors (and current hunter/gatherers) ate lots of healthy animal fats, and we should too.

This book deserves 5 stars. The authors know their stuff. It is easy to read, entertaining, gets right to the facts and the recipes are fantastic and doable. They have great tips to help you be successful and I suggest following them. I did, to the letter and 3 months later
I am thrilled with the results! I have lost weight, lost inches and in general feel lighter, MUCH more energy, happier, inflammation free,
This is not a difficult plan, and the explanation makes total sense.
That alone will make you want to try this eating plan. It is NOT restrictive or difficult. This is the way our bodies were genetically designed to eat. Try it!

I expected so much more.. there are a lot of recipes but either expensive to make or sounds bland and yucky.. Not my cup of tea for sure.

Going to buy my own copy. it has so much correct information in it, so it makes a great guide to have on hand. Highly recommend this for everyone to read. Not for a diet, but a way of life

I found this was simple and straight forward for anyone looking to begin a paleo eating lifestyle. I took much of it and incorporated it into my lifestyle and what I wanted to include and not include. It shows you the alternatives and also ways for it to Beverly strict too.
