5.0 out of 5 stars The true joy of grandparenthood, January 5, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Everything to Spend the Night From A to Z (Hardcover)
This book captures the pure love a child feels for her grandfather in wanting to share all her enthusiasm for life in one night at a sleepover with this special man. The grandfather is a good sport and trys to play along with all her little games that she had planned for the sleepover. He trys to humor her, but at the same time he thoroughly enjoys this wonderful little person sporting a zest for life. There aren't enough hours in the day for this child. There is a heartwarming ending with bonding memories. A wonderful book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Energetic little girl visiting grandpa., September 20, 2009
This review is from: Everything to Spend the Night From A to Z (Hardcover)
Everything to Spend the Night From A to Z
The little girl in this story is thrilled to be spending the night with her Grandpa, and she's brought along her overnight bag with everything that they will need for their visit together. And as it happens, she's brought them all in alphabetical order, from apples to the key to her treasure chest to the zipper on her pajamas. It's quite a busy evening for her playful and patient grandpa and his black-and-white cat as they try to keep up with her.

The busy illustrations perfectly portray a hyper-kinetic youngster as she rushes from activity to activity while her increasingly worn grandpa steers her towards bedtime. By the end of the day, even the cat is exhausted! But when it's finally time to go to bed, she discovers that there is one thing she's forgotten after all, but fortunately grandpa is there to come to her rescue. This is a charming book that will strike an instantly familiar chord with anyone who's ever taken care of an energetic young child, and a painless way to practice the alphabet with children as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cute & Colorful, March 23, 2002
Isn't it true that every time you go on vacation, you forget something? As a child, it did seem I would also remember everything except my pajamas. That is what happens to a giggly little girl who goes to her Grandpa's house for a sleepover.

"First some Apples we can share with Bunny and my fuzzy Bear. They cry whenever I'm not home. I couldn't leave them all alone."

The A in Apples and B in Bunny are colorful letters. In fact, this book is an alphabet type story. There is also a cute cat that makes an appearance. Doing naughty things like walking away with puzzle pieces.

Of course when it is time for bed, she starts to be a silly head and wants to hide under the bed or do headstands. By the time she starts looking for her pj's it is late and she is yawning. The last page ends with the little girl putting on her Grandpa's big pj's. Such a cute little book.
