I loved this book. The story was quick to catch my interest, the characters were believable and the action was fast paced and wild. I'm not an avid reader or science-fiction or suspense, but this book hooked me, and I look forward to reading the others in the series. The story is part mystery, part science fiction, part supernatural phenomenon, part personal discovery, part drama and it all adds up to one heck of a book. I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a fun, quick read. Great stuff!

Grab hold of the craziest conspiracy theorist's head you can find. Dump believable characters in one ear. Shake the head around like a maraca until--bloody and beaten--the characters crawl out the other ear. That's Cold Compass.

From what I've read, Napier promises to--over the course of 5 or so books--tie everything from ghosts to UFOs into one, unified Everything Theory. That's a pretty big claim, but after reading Cold Compass I'm actually inclined to believe he can do it. Napier delivers genuine characters and genuine scares in a book that you probably won't put down until you finish it. I'm not a series guy, and I can't wait for the rest.

Tighten the straps on your tinfoil hat, prepare yourself for a wild ride and buy Cold Compass right now.

More About the Author

Barry has had more than 40 short stories and poems featured in print and online publications. He is the author of Everything Theory: Cold Compass, The Masks of Our Fathers, 13 Broken Nightlights, and The Bleeding Room.

A collection of his short fiction, Debris, was published by Library of Horror Press in 2009 but is currently out of print (many of the stories featured in Debris can be found in his newer collection, 13 Broken Nightlights). In 2010, his debut poetry collection, A Mouth for Picket Fences, was published by Needfire Poetry.

Barry is also the author of the horror/sci-fi chapbook The Final Study of Cooper M. Reid which is currently only available in limited quantities through Strange Publications.

A humble servant to ambient music and coffee, Barry continues to work towards further self publishing projects as well as pursuing traditional markets. He is currently at work on a series of novels and a comic book series.
