5.0 out of 5 stars how heel cup work so well for heel pain
These hard plastic cups do the simple job of shoving your heel fat back under your heel bones where it belongs. As we get old and large, our heels spread, and the bones get closer to the floor. 1.0 out of 5 stars HORRIBLE!
I purchased these based on the advice of my chiropractor. He assumed they were cushy not ROCK HARD. They are the exact opposite of what you need for heel spurs. They feel more like an air cast, molded solid hard plastic. I wore them for one day and could not stand the next day. DO NOT purchase these for heel spurs!!!

These hard plastic cups do the simple job of shoving your heel fat back under your heel bones where it belongs. As we get old and large, our heels spread, and the bones get closer to the floor. The bruised feeling makes us shift forward, putting more pressure on the ball of the foot, bringing on all sorts of trouble, from bunions to lower back pain. By reducing the lateral spread of the soft tissue of your heel, these nifty cups solve--or slow the progression of--a myriad of problems, for cheap. I think they're terrific in tennies, work shoes or even my closed-back dance shoes. M-F Heel Protectors (Heel Cups)

5.0 out of 5 stars Almost Magic..., January 7, 2009
This review is from: M-F Heel Cup Protectors (Misc.)
After back surgery, I started to get some pain in my foot (something called Fat Pad Syndrome) because of the change in my gait. I found an article on line by a sports doctor who suggested tapping the heel [...]. It worked great. It worked because it forced the fat in the fat pad back to where it belongs.

So, I started looking for a more permanent solution. I tried about 10 different gel heel cups and they did not work. In fact, they made things worse. This is what I need. They work great and I have started suggesting them to friends who are road rangers (air travel). They are a one of the best kept secrets. I wish I knew about them when I was active with tennis.

Anyway, very good product. Solved a problem for me that only tape could solve. Also, none of my doctors suggested this. Maybe it's too simple? Who knows.

But thanks. Good product.

I have used this type of heel cup for ten plus years! You can pay more, but they won't work any better. This is my third order as I give them away to friends when they complain about heel pain. I only ask for them to be returned to me if they are not satisfied. I have yet to have a pair of heel cups returned!

Heel skin callused or ruff? Heel cups make for soft heels.

5.0 out of 5 stars These things work!, September 12, 2011

I am a serious walker. I have walked 10 miles virtually every day, except Sundays, for over eight years. I figure that I have walked over 25,000 miles during this time. I am 68 years old. An article about exercise and longevity at The New England Journal of Medicine got me started on such an endeavor. Plantar Fascitis (heel pain) has bothered me quite a bit lately. So much so, that I have been contemplating cutting back on my walking. Today, I received my order of these heel protectors. I put one on my left heel and I received immediate pain relief. I will keep you posted on how they work over longer term.

The plastic, [not rubber] cups hold the fat on the heel down under the heel to cushion the sore spot. They do not necessarily cure your problem, but they keep the agitation to a minimum. Furthermore, they last a long time and can be used over and again. Ladies use small version, men use big.

Item arrived in a very short amt of time. This is the exact same product I received at the orthopaedic doc's office that I wound up paying $53 for!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best device for a hurt heel, March 3, 2011

I used to have this heel protector many years ago. When I hurt my heel a while ago I first tried a gel-style heel protector, but it was ineffective. I suspect it would be fine as a "comfort" device, but it offered too little protection to the injury. Highly recommend this item. Simple, rigid, does the job.

5.0 out of 5 stars Does the job quite well, January 13, 2011

I bought these heel cups when I kicked up my walking distance from 18 miles to about 32 miles a week. I started to notice some heel pain (Plantar fascitis) and knew I had to do something quickly. I purchased a set of these hard heel cups and a set of Tuli's heavy duty heel cups. These hard heel cups work by molding the heel is such a way to put fat or cushion in the heel. The tuli cups work by providing the cushion in the cup itself. Both sets of cups worked great. No problem with fit (Size 11 1/2) with either. The hard cups are a little easier to work with. The tuli cups require you to pay more attention when you put your shoes on since it is easy to fold over a side of the cup into the shoe. If you pay attention you'll be fine with them, too.
