4.0 out of 5 stars Very good for basic wedding advice and guidelines
This book provides a great deal of basic wedding information spanning everything from announcing the engagment to the honeymoon. It also included a chapter on second marriages that was quite informative. The book is filled with humorous illustrations and captions that give it a light-hearted feel. There is also a complete checklist and wedding planner at the end...

3.0 out of 5 stars Eh
Not terrible, but not the easiest read and a tad difficult to follow along with. Seemed to go out of order or jump around a lot. I would recommend the Unofficial Guide to Planning your Wedding or The Dummies Guide. Or better yet, do what I did and check them all out from the library first, and THEN decide which one to buy

5.0 out of 5 stars It really is EVERYTHING you need!, October 30, 2002
By A Customer
I bought this book to help me along in planning my own wedding. Well, I ended up having a non-traditional wedding, and STILL used a ton of the information in the book. It had great ideas for the reception, shower, invitations, etc. etc.

Not only did I find this book helpful, but I passed it along to a friend who is using it to help with her own wedding plans. And...she's already got someone lined up to give the book to when she's done with it! Great book, it really does have EVERYTHING you need to plan your wedding!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Well organized, complete guide for planning your wedding, August 27, 2000
If you're going to buy one book to help you plan your wedding, get this one. It has all the practical information you need and tells you the traditional ways of doing things, but also gives nice alternatives. We didn't end up needing to buy any other books to use in planning our wedding, as it covered all the details; we just supplemented the info in this book by asking our friends and relatives about their wedding experiences, and looking up info online.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nothing Special, September 29, 2003
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I bought this book off of the used section of Amazon.com, and boy am I glad I did. I would have been furious if I had paid full price for this book. This book does not have any information or worksheets in it that you couldn't gather from wedding magazines or off of the many different wedding websites. The only benefit that I can see is that all the information is in one place - but personally, I'd rather get it for free and assemble the information into a binder of my own. My advice - either buy the book at a discounted price, or skip it all together and invest some time surfing the web or a few magazines.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not liking the tone of the book, September 30, 2009
I feel this book is a list of a bunch of dos and don'ts. If you are into etiquette and doing things traditionally then this book is for you. I feel you can find all this information from [...] or other wedding websites, but the tone of it as if there was only one way to do things. It really focuses on making other people happy instead of yourself.

1.0 out of 5 stars Offensive and contradictory, October 24, 2004

I'm going to run out of room if I say everything I want to about this book. Suffice it to say that much of its advice is straight out of the Fifties (including all the stuff about your dad getting his Heart Broken because his Little Girl is All Grown Up Now....barf). Also, one page says that invitations should never be addressed "and family," and then about 100 pages later there's a sample invitation addressed to "so-and-so and family." This is what happens when 3 people write a book.

I don't know what I would have done without this book! It told me so many things I didn't know. I only have 2 friends that are married so I am new to all this wedding stuff and this book definately pointed my in the right direction. I even recommended it to someone else that is getting married! Get this book.
