A Band Evolving into Something Great,
By Nick Y. (Brookeville, MD United States) - See all my reviews

To Start Off, I really enjoy this CD. You can throw it in the CD Player and let it play all the way through. Although, some people think Slightly Stoopid has gone way mainstream with this CD, they haven't. They're just evolving into a great band musically and lyrically. All's I have to say is that this album is awesome no matter what anyone says. It has tight reggae beats, not as much metal & punk as their old album, but that doesn't bother me too much because I like their reggae and ska beats best. Definately buy this CD.

Another keeper by one of the best bands on the planet!,

This band's last studio album, "The Longest Barrel Ride" is undoubtedly one of the most savory albums ever released. It contains a scintillating blend of punk, ska, reggae, & metal that should inspire any eclectic music fan. While this follow-up studio release is another phenomonal record, it lacks the diversity & masterful use of seamless segue that one will find on "Barrel Ride". However, comparisons set aside, this record deserves five stars. While losing some of the ska-punk flavor, this record has incorporated more hip-hop & dancehall techniques into the sound. The use of turntables is a welcome addition to the mix. While mellow musical grooves interladen with catchy lyrical structure dominate this album, a few intermittent blistering punk tracks, esp. "Perfect Gentleman", demonstrate Slightly Stoopid's ability to cross musical borders without skipping a beat. Although the ill-conceived cover of "Leaving On a Jetplane" makes a push for 'muzak' status, the remaining tracks are by far superior to 95% of the other shwap available at your record store. So buy it right now, kids!

I was told about this band a few months ago so i ordered the cd and i really like it. They sound a lot like sublime and everyone knows that sublime is awsome. slightly stoopid has their own sound that is well put together and the singers voice is great.

Not a bad cd, thisis the only slightly stoopid album i own and i like it qutie a bit. But i would never listen to its for its 'punk' music. The reggage and easy listening music is great to listen to and their rendition of "leaving on a jet plane" is great. a must buy for long beach dub all star and sublime fans...but be open mindined!!! peace

I don't know why people don't dig on this album . I have all Slightly Stoopid's older albums , and while I really loved them . I do think they get better each album they do . I am a very big Sublime fan , and it is good to see this band coming out with something which has that same quality and variation Sublime was so well known for . Yet it still stands up by itself , being original , and experimental . They are not one of those "Ska I wish I was sublime" rip off bands . THese guys come with great lyrics , great music , and the all important reggae with a little punk thrown in. And G-Love is on a track !If you guys want a band that is predictable , and does whatever you want, start listening to nsync , or some other mass produced radio fondler . I love this album , keep it up!

I really enjoyed this album. I was a huge Sublime fan, you know "back in the day" this was the closest thing I have found that is similar. This cd is all over the place, some rapish stuff, reggae stuff, and crazy rock stuff. It is a fun album

Mellodramatic Masterpiece,

Good CD - One of my favorites at the moment. If you like bands like Sublime, Long Beach Dub Allstars, Crazytown, or Less Than Jake - You should definetly give this CD a try. Most of the songs are cool slow jams with good guitar riffs and a few are more punk\skaa influenced. The whole CD is listenable and almost every song is a hit but not in a mainstream kinda way. If you're like me you enjoy good music but not the sort of stuff that you hear on the radio 5 times a day. This CD has some familiar sounding songs and a remix\cover of John Denver's "Leavin' On a Jet Plane". This CD rocks! - in general.
