3.0 out of 5 stars Useful, though not a joy to read
A close friend recently encouraged me to join the Twitter community and, I'll admit, I have been reluctant to do so. I thought this book might shed some light on the Twitter phenomenon and maybe - just maybe - motivate me to sign up. Long story short, it didn't.

Looking back, the book is just one of the many titles that pop up to cash in on a trend. As such,...

5.0 out of 5 stars A must read with many amazing insights!, May 5, 2009
In a world in which social networking is expanding more and more, this book will let you discover why Twitter is becoming more and more important and powerful in the daily life.
It will teach you how to explore many features such as establishing a Twitter account, searching for people and interests, adding helpful followers, using "Twetiquette" when communicating, adding Twitter to your blog, developing your market strategies and many other secret techniques.
I can highly recommend it for those who wish to communicate for pleasure and for those who wish to build their brand, drive traffic to their web site and market themselves powerfully.
It is a must read with many amazing insights.

3.0 out of 5 stars Useful, though not a joy to read, August 12, 2009
A close friend recently encouraged me to join the Twitter community and, I'll admit, I have been reluctant to do so. I thought this book might shed some light on the Twitter phenomenon and maybe - just maybe - motivate me to sign up. Long story short, it didn't.

Looking back, the book is just one of the many titles that pop up to cash in on a trend. As such, it was written and released in a hurry; the resultant guidebook proves as much. While it DOES provide some useful and interesting (albeit time-sensitive) information about the specifics of the website, there are some definite issues.

The book was aesthetically pleasing, with found the preliminary history interesting...at first. Twenty-something pages later, I had tired of the lack of cohesion among the provided facts - as well as the complete lack of citations.

While the editing is better than many other books I've reviewed recently, I found spelling and grammar mistakes scattered throughout. I also objected to the overly-casual style: it seems to me that those people (teens, young adults) who identify with the slang in the book have less need for the information than another - dare I say, older? - crowd that might not fully comprehend the expressions.

I will admit, this book has an abundance of helpful information for new and experienced Tweeters alike. It provides useful websites, vocabulary, and Twitter how-tos. Bottom line: if you need help navigating Twitter, this book will give you a map. (Skip the first few chapters and dive in.) But do not - I repeat, DO NOT - read through this book from cover to cover.

5.0 out of 5 stars Twitter is Coming of Age!, May 5, 2009

tom bertrand (Vista, California) - See all my reviews
I applaud you gathering all of this information. This is a fantastic resource, valuable for newcomers and veterans of the Twitter network.
I've been on Twitter a year and I think most people who have some experience on it will say that there isn't a wrong or right way to use Twitter. Twitter etiquette are meant to be guidelines, not rules.
A friend this weekend tweeted that his wife was going into labor and then sent some Tweets from the hospital. Definitely "confidential" information but it made for an exciting afternoon for those who follow him as we waited for his new child to enter the world.

5.0 out of 5 stars Your never to old to learn something new, May 12, 2009
This review is from: Everything twitter - From Novice To Expert: The Unofficial Guide to Everything Twitter - THE BLUE BOOK (Black & White Edition) (Paperback)
Being only 4 months into the computer learning curve I found Everything Twitter to be very helpful, plus I like to have a hard copy that I can thumb through rather than working with multiple screens or printing up information and than losing track of all the loose pages. Twitter is fairly self explanatory but it does have it's bells and whistles and this book helps you figure all of that out so you can use Twitter to your best advantage. If your using Twitter for your business or for serious networking I would definitely recommend getting this book.

This review is from: Everything twitter - From Novice To Expert: The Unofficial Guide to Everything Twitter - THE BLUE BOOK (Black & White Edition) (Paperback)
So what's all the hype about the new social network called twitter? Well, author's Steve Soho & Monica Jones can give you a lot of valuable information and insight to get you started. You can be a novice and easily understand and put to practice their insightful book that can help you become a twitter pro and gain hundreds of follower's. The author's also share some info this reader was unaware of such as info about the founders (of Twitter) and how this popular social network became an overnight success to millions. I would recommend this book to any novice or twitter user who desires to benefit from the perks Twitter can offer them socially and professionally. The author's have thouroughly researched the advantages of Twitter; you're not going to find this type of information anywhere else. After reading this book, you'll definitely want to sign up with Twitter if you haven't done so already.

5.0 out of 5 stars Straight-forward and Comprehensive, May 9, 2009
This review is from: Everything twitter - From Novice To Expert: The Unofficial Guide to Everything Twitter - THE BLUE BOOK (Black & White Edition) (Paperback)
This book is a complete guide to using twitter and interacting with other people using twitter. It even discusses Awesome Ranking Sites and FollowFriday, something which really needed explaining. Also, it is up to date with the current ranking and trends which are going on with twitter today. I would recommend this book to both people who are new to twitter as well as those who'd posted tweets in the past.

5.0 out of 5 stars Twitterific information! I'm impressed., May 1, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Twitterrific information! Well organized. Informative, helpful, thorough. I'm not a good techie and am enamored - and a bit addicted - to Twitter and this book is a combo of Twitter 101 and advanced placement. Honestly I'm impressed with all the information from this book.

We must never forget that our tweets will outlive us. So we must be smart, savvy and thoughtful about anything we write as it will live on.
Some people use Twitter for recreation & Tweet from a bar they are at, others use it to find potential clients for their business. There are people who create Twitter haikus and others use it to keep in touch with friends who have moved away. Some people use Twitter just to post announcements they have updated their blog and organizations Tweet mini-press releases. CNNbrk posts news alerts and The_Real_Shaq talks about the game he's going to play that night.

There are a million different Twitter social networks that co-exist and the key is to find people who are interested in using it in the same way that you are. You might have shared interests or have nothing in common but your occupation. Twitter is whatever you want to make it to be.

A fantastic resource, valuable for newcomers and veterans of the Twitter network. The most comprehensive information about twitter, how to use twitter, twitter programs, apps, etc., all in one place. Best I've seen. Great book and thanks for doing all the work it took to get it here.
