Sitting at your favorite table and night-club, listening to your favorite "girl singer" - in a setting to die for, only comes once in a lifetime...and you're there in fine fashion. Rosie still sounding as good-as-ever, with great backup musicians - Nat Pierce (piano), Monty Budwig (bass), Jake Hanna (drums), Bill Berry (trumpet) and the great Scott Hamilton (sax), selections are unforgettable standards only they way Rosie can sing them.
Of course there are stand outs - "I CAN'T GET STARTED" with additional lyrics is a "pure joy"..."I'VE GOT A CRUSH ON YOU" a great Gershwin tune, simple and from the heart with awesome lyrical interpretation..."HEY THERE" a Clooney tune from her yester-years, swinging arrangement..."AS TIME GOES BY" clear, clean with beautiful tones, you gotta love it...but the highlight is the great Louis Armstrong standard - "DO YOU KNOW WHAT IT MEANS TO MISS NEW ORLEANS" makes this song her own, digs deep into this tune and pulls out all the stops with a classic ending.
Concord Jazz Carl E. Jefferson said it best - "Brevity is clarity. Mr. Tony Bennett's description of this recording is accurate to say the least. This 1977 recording of Rosemary's, proves the theorem that aging fine wines, enhances them. She sang with the band, live...no overdubs...listen and enjoy...it's beautiful"...and "EVERYTHING'S COMING UP ROSIE" is a keeper, and that is my final answer!
Total Time: 36:56 on 10 Tracks...Concord Jazz CCD-4047...(1977)

Tony Bennett definitely got it right when he said this recording was perfect! I've long been an aficionado of Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Billie Holiday, Mahalia Jackson and so on, but have only just discovered Rosemary Clooney - and after hearing this CD, I wish it hadn't taken me so long.

There's not a single track on this disc that's less than wonderful. The band is as tight as a drum, with some wonderful solos from all the players, and Rosemary Clooney is just superb - clear, clean, expressive and obviously having a good time as you can hear the joy in her voice as she sings. Marvellous!

This is a wonderful CD. It was Rosemary's first for Concord Records, and marked her return to recording after some very difficult times. She sounds great, is backed by top-notch jazz musicians who back her on some great songs. If you don't have it in your Clooney collection you should order it right now.

It is mind-boggling to encounter the perfection of this recording. This is not supposed to happen outside of heaven. The songs are all of the first order. The "back-up" band (especially the other-worldly Scott Hamilton), and the recording techniques are surpassing.
And then finally mostly jaw-droppingly, there is Ms. Rose's singing. After her battles, she combines the amazing chops and the palpable world-wisdom to take us to the highest spiritual and aesthetic level. A dream.
