Editorial Reviews

Girlyman's songs are a dance of melody and suspensions - an irresistible blend of acoustic, Americana, and rock The Village Voice calls 'really good, really unexpected, and really different.' Everything's Easy, Girlyman's fourth studio album, is the band's most intimate and sophisticated effort. A suburban childhood unfolds amid the mounting pressure of the Watergate era in Easy Bake Ovens, while the Tin Pan Alley tribute My Eyes Get Misty highlights the band's playfulness. Self-produced and engineered, Everything's Easy was recorded with a single, ten thousand dollar microphone, financed by fan donations. This microphone, along with the work of Grammy-winning mixer Ben Wisch, has created an immeasurably rich sound.

Long time fans might need 2 or more listens before they fall as in love with this CD as my wife and I have. It's as beautiful in every respect as previous Girlyman works, in particular the deep lyrics, haunting melodies (hard to get them out of your head) and incomparable harmonies.

What's different is that the majority of the CD is soulful, slower-style songs (there are a few exceptions). Most previous CDs had a mix of up-beat and slow stuff. We can't get these songs out of our heads, and sing them with and without the CD playing, over and over.

Highly recommended!

This group is just so appealing. The fact that there are only three of them does not detract from the complexity of their material. They write their own songs, they sing great harmony in them, they play their own instruments all with refreshing results. Their music just stays with you. I find myself humming their songs & never seem to tire of listening to their cds. I have three of them now and like every one. I give them a big thumbs up!

An incredible live band that transfers well to recorded music. There are several songs in this collection that should be in heavy radio rotation. If "Somewhere Different Now" doesn't touch something in you it's time to hang it up. Well worth the download. If you get the chance to see them live don't hesitate. It's amazing how well they come across live.

I have been a fan of Girlyman going on almost 6 or 7 years now, and I have listened for hours to all of their albums. This one definitely showcases their talents. Their sound seems to have matured (though it had little more it needed to grow, really), and I was personally impressed by the use of a keyboard, which I don't recall hearing on past albums. I am continually inspired and awed by this band - their harmonies are flawlessly beautiful, and their lyrics are poignant and personal yet fully relatable. It's nice to be reminded, through their writing, that successful musicians are real people, too, and have concerns and problems just like the rest of us. Fantastic job, Girlyman! I applaud you, yet again!
