Firstly, BRITNEY SPEARS DOES NOT SING THIS SONG. Her song by the same title is a different song entirely. This songs reminds me a little of "Again", Jacksons 1993 hit from her Janet album. It is a piano-driven romantic love jam (Like Britney's song by the same title).
Now the "Disco" mix, which sounds more Housey than Discoey works nicely here still keeping the romantic element. There are no long intos, breakdowns or dragged out outros. This is not a club dj recommendation as those needed aspects of a mix are absent. It's great for a house party, however. For the one who has just have to have all of Janet's music, they will find this an essential buy becasue there is a song that did not make the cut for the Velvet Rope album and it does not appear elsewhere other than as a b-side for this song.

An ex-girlfriend gave me this cd single as a gift back in '99 and this has been my favourite song eversince that time. I have to say I treated the person who gave me this single like dirt, and with all honesty, I hate the person I was then. Now we are the bestest of friends though!!Everytime is an excellent song. With the master minds Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis behind the song, how can it possibly be a bore? "Accept Me" is also a very simple yet very strong song!! Truly a gem!

this is a great cd, the remixe by jimmy jam and terry lewis of 'everytime' is my favorite remixe off the velvet rope album. Accept me is a song with some very meaningful lyrics. If there are any other janet or michael fans reading this, email me, i have a big collection to trade and sell w/ other fans!! the cover photo of this cd has pic of janet from the video of everytime.

Released as The Velvet Rope's sixth and final single in the fall of 1998, the piano ballad Every Time finds Janet wondering if she should allow herself to fall in love again or let her past heartbreak keep romance at arm's length. At a crossroads she sings "One half wants me to go/One half wants me to stay/I just get so all confused/I'm scared to fall in love/Afraid to love so fast/Cuz every time I fall in love/It seems to never last."
This song is proof that you don't have to have a booming voice with lots of range in order to convey emotion. While certain singers would've pulled out the belts, runs, and melisma, Janet's delivery is quivery, whispery, and cautious. It's more appropriate given the lyrics and the message. Thankfully the Disco Remix doesn't take away from the original's vulnerability. The B-side Accept Me would've been an excellent addition to the Velvet Rope album and I'd love to see it on a future collection of other B-sides and remixes. It's a plea to a lover to accept you for who you are, the good and the bad. "Accept me for who I am/No woman can take my place, baby/I'm doing the best I can/So please don't give up on me!" After all, we do have the need to feel special.

I love Everytime, it's one of the best songs on Velvet Rope, and also one of janet's best songs. If you liked Again, you will love Everytime. The song is similar with it's melody and piano chords. Too bad it wasn't a bigger hit, thanks to Virgin not releasing the single in the US. The club mix is okay, sounds a lot like Together Again. Accept Me is a masterpiece!! janet sings with emotion and honesty and the music is so beautiful and soothing. This song should have definitely made the Velvet Rope album, it could have easily replaced the song Tonight's the Night. Recommended to every jackson fan.

Underrated Janet Gem,

Every Time was the final single from Janet's multi-platinum 1997 release THE VELVET ROPE. It was only released overseas though. It featured a beautiful film clip with Janet in a pool. The song failed to do very well on any chart though which is a shame. This is a beautiful song about being afraid to fall in love, in fear of being left out in the cold. The single features the album version, and a wonderful disco remix that is worth the price of the single. But the real treat is the b-side Accept Me, which is very much in vein of THE VELVET ROPE theme, about being accepted and loved for who you are. Overall this is a worthwhile single to invest in for the remix and the b-side.

She's perhaps the most versatile artist of all time. I always wondered how can someone arouse such a wide scale of feelings with her songs. Ever compared "Rhythm Nation" to "Every Time"? It's really surprising that the two very different songs were written and performed by the same artist. That's what I call talent."Every Time" is from "The Velvet Rope", which is one of my favorite Janet albums (second only to Rhythm Nation 1814). The song makes me feel emotional every time I listen it. A perfect one to listen while you're dreaming. The single also features a disco remix and a previously unreleased song, "Accept Me".
