Everywhere,

If NOT A MOMENT TOO SOON and ALL I WANT established him as a country hit maker, Tim McGraw's 1997 album EVERYWHERE propelled him into superstar status. The album had a number of huge hit singles. The first single, "It's Your Love", a duet with wife Faith Hill, became a country smash and hit #1 for 6 weeks. An impressive feat. Even more impressive was when the second single "Just To See You Smile" also hit #1 for 6 weeks in a row. The title track was another #1 hit as well. The album also spun off the hits "Where The Green Grass Grows", "For A While" and "One Of These Days". It's no wonder that the album was successful, as there's so many great songs here. Some notable tracks that weren't singles include "I Do But I Don't", and "Ain't That The Way It Always Ends". Overall another great album from Tim McGraw.

This CD is awesome!!!I fell in love with the album instantly. The songs are great, and Tim does a fantastic job on this album. There's a great mixture of upbeat and slow songs, and highlights include "Where The Green Grass Grows", "It's Your Love", "Everywhere", "Ain't That The Way" and "Just To See You Smile".This CD is a must-have, even for non-country music listeners.

Tim McGraw is my favorite country singer- and "Where the Green Grass Grows" is the reason I got into country! If you like the Dixie Chicks, Faith Hill, or Garth Brooks (at least, "Ain't Goin' Down..."), you'll really like this. :)

A Masterpiece!!,

One of country mucic's greatest at his best. "Everywhere" is a masterpiece of modern country music. Each song delivers everyday thoughts and feelings in a fresh and original package. The album showcases all of McGraw's talents, from the love ballad "It's Your Love", that will undoubtedly go down as one of country music's greatest love songs of all time, to the catchy and unforgettable "Where the Green Grass Grows," which really epitomizes what Tim McGraw is all about. He'll make you laugh in light-hearted, upbeat love songs "Hard on the Ticker", and "You Turn Me On", and he'll make you cry in the emotional and touching "One of these Days". And who could forget Billboard's country song of the year for 1998, "Just to See You Smile", which is one of the songs that got me past country music stereotypes and made McGraw my favorite artist. With 5 number 1 hits, and another that reached number 2, song of 1997 ("It's Your Love"), and song of 1998, it would have been a crime if McGraw didn't win the CMA album of the year last year. This is by far my favorite cd and a must-have for any true music fan, country or not.

Could be the best...,

I seem to only review CDs that I believe are deserving of the coveted 5-star Amazon rating. This one, is not only a non-exception, but this one could very well be my favorite CD. Its hard to pick a favorite with Tim putting together so many good albums. Not to mention all the stuff Pearl Jam has released, but thats for different reviews. This disc is a great start to fifnish album. I love those. Lets start at the beginning. Where the Green Grass Grows is a great up-tempo song. It's deffinatly country, but the steel guitar falls a far second to the fiddle. The drumming is mixed more like a rock song, but that just helps push the tempo. The lyrics are great. Talking about getting out of the old town, and away from the city. To live out in the country, where the green grass grows.
For a Little While Is another good up-tempo song. It's a little more rock n roll than the first track. More piano driven, but thie fiddle and steel still own a big part in the song. The lyrics reflect on an old summer love. The kind that you know wont ever come back, but you'll never forget. It's Your Love is the first Tim and Faith duet on one of Tim's CDs. There is no way that you cant tell these two are in love from the feeling of this great ballad. The organ that permiates the song is that of a 60's rock song, but there's no mistaking the great steel guitar solo in this one. Aint That the Way That It Always Ends is a very up-tempo rocker about some of the people we meet in our lives that have textbook stories of love gone bad. The way the song is played and sang, it sounds happy, but you cant help but feel a little sorry for the people named within. I Do But I Dont is a mid-tempo modern country tune about a man who is indecisive about a relationship. This one could be a non-standout track, except for the fact that its the only one like it on the disc. That in itself makes it stand out from the rest in its own way. Great Steel guitar in this one. One of These Days. This one could be a tear-jerker. This is a soft ballad about a man reflecting on his past, and wanting to take back the bad things he's done. Wanting to be a better person. Realizing finnaly that in order to love others, one must learn to love himself. Beautiful song. Hard on the Ticker is a honky-tonk style rocker talking about the girl who he might have once though could make him feel younger, but the effects are exactly opposite. Deffinatly a lead guitar and steel guitar driven song. Everywhere. The album's name-sake for good reason. This song is mid-tempo, sort of Country-Rock. I could hear the Eagles doing this one. Simply about remebering a love that's been lost. Missing her, seeing her everywhere. Instrumentation is top-notch. Tim's Vocals have never owned a song like they do this one. Just to See You Smile is a mostly acoustic folk - country song about running into the girl that used to love you, and remebering all the things you did for her, and realizing you'd still do them. Just to make her happy. This one was a huge hit for Tim, and once you hear it, you'll understand why. You Just Get Better All The Time. This one is a very soft ballad. The man here is just proffessing his undying love to the woman he's with. This is one of those songs you could imagine a 70 year old man singing to his wife at their 50th anniversery. It's a very powerful love song. You Turn Me On is another country rocker about the man who was ready to give up on the whole relationship thing until he met THE woman. He doesnt know what happened, but now all his plans have changed. Over all, this CD is simply amazing. I've taken many a road trip where I made sure this disc was included in the pile. It's a must. If you're reading this, you probably know Tim's music... This is no different. If you come into this album expecting to hear the typical great CD by Mr. McGraw, you'll get what you want and more.

The album that made Tim a really big star,
By
This review is from: Everywhere (Audio CD)
Tim's career had built up momentum steadily. His first album made little impact. His second (Not a moment too soon) contained the single Indian outlaw. It sold extremely well and the next two albums (All I want) consolidated Tim's growing reputation. This album was something else again, propelling Tim's career to even greater heights. Tim began as a traditional country singer but by the time this album came along, he had moved firmly into the contemporary country music scene. You can't blame him as his debut album (a very traditional album) flopped. On the other hand, Tim's voice is country to the core so even when the backing is contemporary as on this album, there is still something of a country feel to the sound.
The album contains plenty of country hits including the title track, Where the green grass grows, For a little while, It's your love (with Faith Hill, otherwise known as Mrs McGraw) and Just to see you smile. As befitting a man at a blissfully happy time of life whose marriage was still fresh and exciting, the album is full of songs about the joys of life, particularly love. Among the tracks not already mentioned, I particularly like Hard on the ticker and I do but I don't. This album is a masterpiece if contemporary country. Tim has had plenty of success with subsequent albums but I'll be surprised if he ever again matches the sheer brilliance of this album.

Great Music!,

I became a fan of Tim McGraw after this album came out, and although I had all of his more recent albums, it wasn't until I saw him in concert this year and heard him sing "Everywhere" that I got this album. It quickly became, without a doubt, my favorite Tim McGraw album! The melody of "Everywhere" is so beautiful (not too slow) and although it's about longing for a lost love, it is so infectious, almost haunting, that you just want to hear it over and over. "It's Your Love" with Faith Hill is one of the most powerful, romantic songs in country music and their voices blend so well on this song. This collection of songs definitely touches on romantic and sentimental moods, like in "You Just Get Better all the Time" and "Just to See You Smile". This album has happiness and sadness - all without being sappy - but then there's the rockin' tune "Hard on the Ticker", the really fun "You Turn Me On" and the upbeat songs like "Where the Green Grass Grows". A great variety. Four of the songs ended up on his Greatest Hits CD, - I'm not sure why "Everywhere" was left off the GH (it was a big hit for Tim) but I'm glad it was or I may not have gotten this CD!

Excellent all-around record,

Tim McGraw's album Everywhere is excellent all around. "It's Your Love", Tim's duet with his wife, Faith Hill, is an awesome song. However, every other song on this record is worth listening to, not just once, but lots of times. Besides "It's Your Love", the record also produced five other hit songs--the reflective title song "Everywhere", the smooth ballad "One Of These Days", the flowing song "Just To See You Smile", and the fun, solidly upbeat songs "Where The Green Grass Grows" and "For A Little While". Other noteworthy songs on Everywhere are "I Do But I Don't", "Ain't That The Way It Always Ends" and "You Just Get Better All The Time".When it was released in '97, Everywhere established Tim McGraw as a serious country artist. He had some fun on this record, but I think he stopped being pigeonholed as merely a novelty-song artist(per his early hits "Indian Outlaw" and "I Like It, I Love It"). The songs on Everywhere are well-done, and there isn't a song on this record that I'm not pleased with. Tim got several awards for this album. I think he deserves them.

One of his Best,

EVERYWHERE starts out strong with "Where The Green Grass Grows," a rocking anthem for country living, guaranteed to make even city folks hum along. And though the album contains its fair share of up-tempo songs, the real treats here are the slower ballads. Tim McGraw may wear a big, imposing hat, but under the brim lies a sensitive soul. "It's Your Love" is a heartfelt torch song duet with Tim's wife, Faith Hill."Its Your Love" was one of the biggest songs of 1997, spending 8 weeks at #1 on the country charts. His follow up single, "Everywhere", spent a few weeks at the top too. Then he broke his own record upon the release of "Just To See You Smile" which also spent 8 weeks at #1. Other singles such as the sad song "One Of These Days", the spirited "Where The Green Grass Grows", and the song "For A Little While" also fared well, making this one of his most successful albums from his career, with 6 hits under his belt from it. Tim's strength stems from willingness to share his vulnerability. The title song tells the story of a past love, now hopelessly out of reach. The singer imagines her everywhere he's not. While the protagonist may never find this woman, no matter where she travels, it's likely to be difficult for her to avoid hearing at least one song off EVERYWHERE, so solid is the appeal of this proven hit-maker.

I really wanted to rate this CD 10 stars...but of course you can't. I have lived One of these Days, and Everywhere. Just like all the other reviews, I believe this is THE best CD I own, and that includes all my Garth Brooks. And Tim,if you ever read this, just keep them coming, and we will keep buying. One last thing...thank you for thanking God for your gift...takes real talent to know where it comes from.
