A "must have" for CB&Q lovers. Outstanding., December 6, 1997
By A Customer
This review is from: Everywhere West: The Burlington Route (Hardcover)
I found "Everywhere West" to be a clear, concise pictorial history of the Chicago, Burlington, and Quincy Railroad from its earliest days to the Burlington Northern merger in 1970. Particular attention has been given to the Burlington Zephyrs as well as to little-known Burlington Route subsidiary lines. The book reads very well, shows extensive research, and is filled with hundreds of pictures. This book is a "must have" for CB&Q lovers and is highly recommended to anyone who loves railroading.

A Passion for Railroading, October 13, 2006
This review is from: Everywhere West: The Burlington Route (Hardcover)
Patrick Dorin has a clear passion for railroading, which shines through in this wonderful book.
On the surface, it looks like another "picture book" approach to railroad lore. And the pictures are, indeed, great. But it is so much more.
In gaining a deep understanding of how some railroads thrived and grew, while others did not, Dorin paints an industrial and business history which reveals great depth and insight. Even a little suspense.
It's a great book - sort of an undiscovered gem!
