Great for clinicians, students, researchers, October 24, 2000
This review is from: Evidence-Based Otitis Media (Hardcover)
This is a superb book in many ways. First, for the clinician and student it offers an explicit, evidence-based approach to the child with otitis media. In addition, it is an excellent didactic on evidence-based medicine, a field where there is a lot of talk...and here you get a clear, practical example. A particular strength of the book is the clear statements of the strengths and limitations of not only the evidence but of the evidence-based medicine approach in general and guidelines in particular.
Researchers will find the book helpful on several fronts. The person who is interested in an extensive, up-to-date evidence-based review of the topic will delight in the breadth and depth of the book. All relevant topics (from epidemiology to prevention to treatment) are covered. The person interested in expanding our knowledge of otitis media will clearly find those areas where additional information is needed.
This book is a great reference for those interested in otitis media and a great clinic for those interested in evidence-based medicine and clinical practice guidelines. In short, I clearly find it a `must buy' for those in (or interested in) the field.
