5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Resource, June 16, 2000

This review is from: Evidence: Examples and Explanations (Paperback)
A must for anyone studying for a Bar exam or law school Evidence or Trial Advocacy course. This concise explanation of evidence rules succeeds where most law professors fail in making the abstract federal rules accessible and memorizable.

I am a big E&E fan and I would give 4 or 5 stars to most books in the series, but I'm not going to give this one more than 2 stars. The introductory text that precedes the examples is way too long. The chapter on examination of witnesses has 24 pages of text before giving a single example!!! Compare to most other E&E books, which have no more than 2-10 pages of introductory text before getting into the examples. Also, I am no law professor, but I found the presentation of topics a little confusing. The explanation of the hearsay rule is very different from the one that my prof gave in class (and the prof actually drafted some of the federal rules of evidence - I am assuming he is the one who's got it right!!). Finally most examples are really easy and not that useful except as a quick review. The best thing about this book is that it's pretty short and can be used to get an idea of the subject before moving on to a more complete study aid or casebook.
I have the 5th edition of the book - I hope the 6th (which I believe is just out) is better.

5.0 out of 5 stars This got me through my evidence exam, October 20, 2006
Very good book on the subject, the best I've encountered in regards to Evidence and the FRE. I scored very well on my exam, despite slacking throughout the semester and skipping most of the readings. This book made the difference for me, and for a few of my friends who also got copies before our test.
