Challenging Game,

This game is challenging and almost to the point of frustration at times. But really, they did a fantastic job in getting me engrossed in the game.
Pros: Puzzles are challenging but if you follow your gut you will perservere. I had to read a lot for this game. Although this will sound nuts, I felt smarter after playing this game. It got me addicted. I went through stages: from Addiction to Intrigue and then to anticipation of wanting to beat it. Cons: I was hoping for more of a scary feel. At times you may feel a little creeped out, but nothing more. A few (4 out of 38 or more)puzzles did frustrate me. Tip: Buy the game if you like detective work (the constant studying and keeping your mind open) and you like forensics (not the study of dead people but the pragmatic approach of seeing the result and looking everywhere for the cause), if you like details. Look for hints and beware of forums that don't hide spoilers. The game is much more fun when you don't cheat.

Fun but frustrating puzzles,

I only gave this game 3 stars because, although the graphics and music and other sound-effects are excellent, the puzzles and clues are very complicated and somewhat frustrating. Either I am a complete idiot,or I have lost all of my "detective" skills in games of this genre. I'm hoping for the latter.I mean, once you figure out one of the puzzles, and there are many, there is a real feeling of accomplishment, until you realize a week has gone by,and you apparently only left the game to use the bathroom.
I'm going to stick with it,however. No game has beaten me yet,and this one won't either. I think.

Not compelling enough....,

Although the puzzles in this game are well-thought out and the graphics are top-notch, I found the game play itself to be fairly mediocre and somewhat boring. The story line is compelling and Adventure games has definitely put a lot into this particular game (websites, email programs, profiles) this game felt more like work than play. Let me say, I purchased this not realizing that a constant internet connnection is needed in order to play it (though I do have one) I felt somewhat misleaded as the box does not tell you this. Also, in order to even play the game you need to register your email address and create an account, which I was not too keen on as I tend to keep my email under lock and key from spammers. No spam yet...just LOTS of game-related emails.
It seems that my expectations of this game were much different than the result I got out of game play. Not a real big gamer, but I do have likes and preferences. This felt more like reality (like work) than like role-playing or gaming. Gaming is fun but work can be tedious and boring with all the research. Also, for those people who enjoy mental stimulation from games, you'll expend all that energy you saved for game playing on internet research trying to figure out names and geographical locations. In sum: not a bad game, but not one to write home about either. As much fun as a sunny afternoon spent in the library.

Immersive, but issues playing it years after release,

The storyline is interesting, the interactive features are fun, but:
I got the game-sent "hints" days after opening particular puzzles. Some websites created for the game are either no longer accessable or no longer on the first 5 search pages/in the results for the 5 most likely searches you would use. Several important online articles are no longer on the web, leaving you screwed. Some of the ingame tool features are bugged, leaving you screwed. The information found using the above methods is integral to solving some puzzles, so you're screwed. Though it was immensely satisfying when I was able to find enough active content to figure out the puzzles (about 40% of the time) it was too frequent that I ran into issues over the searches/sites. The Endgame sequence needs a trigger (must have been on one of those sites), and the ending itself is anticlimatic at best. BUT- if you like riddles, take a shot at it- it's a unique setup, and a brain teaser.... and when you run into a dead site there are plenty of walkthroughs that have the info you'll need.

This game is very different from any game I've played in the past. I had bought it for my husband for Christmas, and we've been playing it together. This game is not for the squeamish! It has very realistic play, you will do a lot of research, and have to solve a lot of puzzles. If you don't like things that are creepy, or remotely scary, don't get this game. If you are like us and enjoy things out of the ordinary and don't get scared easy, you will like this game! It is very exciting and you never know what to expect next. the only down fall is that some of the sites you go to no longer exist because this game is 5 years old. so far, that has not stopped us from finding what we need to.

This game is awesome. It's sort of freaky and very challenging. It definitely makes you think a lot, so it takes a lot of concentration and failed attempts. It gets a little repetitive after playing it for a long time. But overall, its definitely worth trying it.
