4.0 out of 5 stars Depends what you're looking for..., December 7, 2006

You will not be ready for an exam in evidence after listening to these CDs. But, if you are like me and rarely attended class or did the reading, these CDs are a great way to get caught up. After listening to them, I was more or less ready to start studying as if I had actually been paying attention all semester.

Also- The guy (Prof Goode) does not talk fast, I'm not sure what that other dude is talking about. If anything he's a little slow and repetitive at times. And he does use some weird acronyms to try and help people remember things, I would suggest you just ignore them.

Overall, these CDs are like all the other Sum and Substance CDs- I used them when I was 6 days away from an evidence exam that I was not ready for, and they helped me get a B+ in the class. If you want more than that.....well then you should have been going to lecture and taking notes and outlining, these CDs are for those of us who don't want to do that.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sum & Substance: Evidence, October 20, 2007
By
A good synopsis of a complex topic. Although the professor does not go into enough detail on some topics (because, he says, there is "not enough time", which begs the question "Why is there a time limit?"), he nonetheless does a good job of hitting the important points about each topic. He effectively uses examples, sometimes in a humorous (or not) way, to help the listener understand the intricacies of the fine points. He also provides helpful pneumonics (such as DIFF and KRAP) to help with remembering lists of exceptions, reasons, etc. I was able to use the pneumonics on a midterm exam to gain some points. On the other hand, his treatment of some important topics, such as the Confrontaton Clause, are cursory, leaving the listener wanting more information. Overall, a very helpful learning tool.

This meets the standards of the usual superb Sum and Substance quality. Great for first time learning or final review. Highly recommended.
