4.0 out of 5 stars Depends what you're looking for..., December 7, 2006
By
You will not be ready for an exam in evidence after listening to these CDs. But, if you are like me and rarely attended class or did the reading, these CDs are a great way to get caught up. After listening to them, I was more or less ready to start studying as if I had actually been paying attention all semester.

Also- The guy (Prof Goode) does not talk fast, I'm not sure what that other dude is talking about. If anything he's a little slow and repetitive at times. And he does use some weird acronyms to try and help people remember things, I would suggest you just ignore them.

Overall, these CDs are like all the other Sum and Substance CDs- I used them when I was 6 days away from an evidence exam that I was not ready for, and they helped me get a B+ in the class. If you want more than that.....well then you should have been going to lecture and taking notes and outlining, these CDs are for those of us who don't want to do that.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sum & Substance: Evidence, October 20, 2007
By
A good synopsis of a complex topic. Although the professor does not go into enough detail on some topics (because, he says, there is "not enough time", which begs the question "Why is there a time limit?"), he nonetheless does a good job of hitting the important points about each topic. He effectively uses examples, sometimes in a humorous (or not) way, to help the listener understand the intricacies of the fine points. He also provides helpful pneumonics (such as DIFF and KRAP) to help with remembering lists of exceptions, reasons, etc. I was able to use the pneumonics on a midterm exam to gain some points. On the other hand, his treatment of some important topics, such as the Confrontaton Clause, are cursory, leaving the listener wanting more information. Overall, a very helpful learning tool.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent!, December 31, 2007
This meets the standards of the usual superb Sum and Substance quality. Great for first time learning or final review. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is GREAT, November 27, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Evidence: Sum & Substance ("Quick Review" Book Outline Series) (Paperback)
I don't know what the last guy is talking about-- I bought these tapes because Evidence was my last exam and driving home for Thanksgivings I felt like it would be a good time to spend a little time on it. Because so many people had rec'd these tapes I bought them on my way out of town. I'm not into booktapes, but after it got through the first 10 minutes and picked up a little--- everything fell together! I wouldn't necessarily say listen before you have a grasp on anything. But I think that its a GREAT review for exams!! It made so many things make more sense and clarified a lot of issues.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is the best evidence lecture I have ever heard, February 2, 2006

I'm writing this review in response to a couple of negative reviews. I'm listening to the lecture right now and it is the best, most understandable lecture on evidence that I have ever heard. Better, in my opinion than the evidence lecture put out by PMBR for the MBE (law graduates will understand those acronyms). Believe me, I had a horrible visiting evidence professor (luckily for others she lasted only two semesters) who couldn't explain hearsay from naysay. It is a great lecture!!!
