Can't wait for Number 3!,

This review is from: Evil Ascending (The Dark Conspiracy Trilogy) (Kindle Edition)
I've been a fan of Mr. Stackpole for awhile and was pleased to discover this older work, being released now on the Kindle to be up to par with his more recent work. Even though I'm unfamiliar with the RPG or whatever property this was supposed to accompany, the trilogy so far has remained quite accessable. This is the second book in the series, I bought the first book on a whim and within a week have read both books. Hopefully I won't have to wait too long for the third in the trilogy.

A solid sequel,

This book really expands from what happened in book one. Much more is explained in Evil Ascending as we learn about the other dimensions. Perhaps the biggest change is the addition of other view points. These new characters are interesting and able to grow the story at a far faster rate than if Tycho was the sole POV again. I enjoyed this novel, but not quite as much as the original.

I like Stackpole's work and wanted to get more. I tried this as Kindle title. It's okay. Going back to read an author's early works after getting used to more polished writing can be a bit of a letdown. This was. It's of the general level I expect from game based, series books. It has all the elements of a quick read, including lots of action, nasty bad guys and some interesting plot twists. It's a fine read-at-the-beach novel. Say, a good burger rather than a complex dinner.
