Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com

The title character is a mild-mannered film editor at a big motion picture company who is reassigned to their "Splatter and Gore" department to work on their highly successful "Loose Limbs" series. The horrific violence in those films drives him insane and he starts killing people in the style of the movie villains. You might think that Evil Ed is a moralistic tale warning us of the dangers of horror films, but the filmmakers are having way too much fun to bother with that. It's really more a satire of horror films, the movie business, SWAT teams, and what-have-you that combines gleeful mayhem, a witty visual style, and Scandinavian angst. All the actors in this Swedish-made film spoke their lines in English, but their voices were dubbed for this American release. Hard-core splatter fans may find it a little light on the gore, but hey, any movie that starts with a guy blowing off his own head with a hand grenade can't be all bad. Trivia factoid: The title is a play on Evil Dead, and the name of Ed's tyrannical producer, Sam Campbell, salutes that film's director, Sam Raimi, and star, Bruce Campbell. --Geof Miller

Product Description

He's Eerie, he's Edcitable and his temper is Edsplosive.... He's "Evil Ed." From the bowels of a movie studio editing room, the demons that inhabit the world's most gory movies scramble Ed's brain until he starts butchering more than scenery. His rampage of exploding heads and flying limbs make this gorefest truly splatterific.

4.0 out of 5 stars PLEASE READ BEFORE BUYING THE IMAGE RELEASE!!!, July 13, 2005
This review is from: Evil Ed (DVD)
Evil Ed is an awesome movie if you own the VHS edition the dvd release by IMAGE Entertainment has all the gore scenes taken out!!! Ardustry Entertainment is re-releaseing the film Oct. 4 2005 in it's full gory glory!!! So I recommend waiting and getting that version.

The movie itself is pretty awsome though, in the unedited version it has exploding heads, chopped torsos, and other cool scenes, plus the movie is halarious and has a lot of reference to the evil dead series

3.0 out of 5 stars Look here people!, February 22, 2000
This review is from: Evil Ed (DVD)
Guys, I can only refer to the guy who asy the movie in Sweden. They say that it is uncut, but it is not! The swedish release offers more gore and a bucket of blood here and there. No, it is not a gore-gore kind of film, but it is not meant to be. The movie features some of the elite of swedish actors on orders to make the movie exactly as it is. The dubbing is made on purpose, don't think anything else! It is a classic here in Sweden and has earned its place in the swedish hall-of-fame of swedish horror-films (scarce as they may be) See this movie for some laughs, not to be scared.

Enjoy! :o)

2.0 out of 5 stars I LOVE this movie BUT..., May 1, 2002

This movie is great. I would give it 4 stars if it wasnt for the fact that this dvd version has 3 minutes of gore cut out. Dont be fooled. It says unrated on the back but this is definatley the R rated version....its a shame.
