this is a really cool single, the remix of narc is even better than the version on antics. i'm glad to see song seven finally recorded, as it is an excellent song.

Indie-EP (slightly different tracklist than the import),

I noticed this EP the other day when I was shopping at my indie-record store the other day, and immediately snapped this up. From the sticker on it, it's now clear to me that this was an EP released in early 2005 in celebration of "independent record store" day (usually the third Saturday in April)."Evil" (5 tracks; 20 min.) starts off with the title track. I must admist that it's been quite a while that I had heard this, and it was nice. One of the best tracks from the "Antics' album. It is followed by then-unreleased "Song Seven", a long time concert staple of the band which somehow did not make the final tracklisting of "Antics". (The song would eventually be released on the deluxe-reissue of "Antics".) The last 3 songs are taken from the Zane Lowe BBC Session of September 15, 2004: "Narc", "Evil", and last but not least "Leif Erikson", which replaces the video for "Evil" that comes on the import EP available on Amazon. In all, "Evil" is a good-sounding and generous EP, and a nice addition to the Interpol catalog. In the same vein as this EP, check out as well the "Interpol Live" EP which the band also released specifically for/in celebration of "independent record stores". Meanwhile, very little has been heard from these guys for a long time now, it's already been over 2 years since the "Our Love to Admire" album, and no sign of any activity any time soon.

Kinda sad but Ive been obsessively listening to Interpol for a few days now. The song has some kind of haunting mysteriousness to it. Sounds dumb but thats the only way I can describe it. I love it. The lyrics are like a riddle you have to figure out,and you can interpet it any way you want. I feel its about infedelity and murder, but thats just me. The video is a bit creepy but then again, the song isnt about sunshine and puppy love so I think it fits the song.

Love the song. Reminds me of the Psychedelic Furs in 82' (RIP New Wave). Buy it.

Eh...,

Eh, Evil isn't Iterpol's best, I'm actually kind of annoyed by it. And to the air guitarist guy...how is the video in any way humorous? I didn't find it funny, and I sure didn't find it offending, I'm not sure why any one would be offended unless they were just coming up with stupid reasons to hate the video. Also, Good Charolote? Simple Plan? Green Day? Oh my, please slow down, that's too many terrible bands to list at once...... please stay way from your hot topic inspired music world and find something decent. |
