Book Description

The Executioner, 241 December 1, 1998
A massacre at an ex-senator's Long Island estate touches off a full-scale war between Mack Bolan and an international conspiracy that has become humanity's darkest threat. Anarchy, revolution and genocide are as close as tomorrow.

Manhattan is the scene of the opening guns in this massive undertaking that has united former U.S. soldiers, Pentagon brass, ex-KGB killers and the world's criminal elite. The Executioner and Stony Man top gun Jack Grimaldi launch a two-man strike team to flush the players out of the dark and expose the agenda of destruction. But entrenched in global corridors of power, the Coalition may be unstoppable.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good, but by far not what it could have been, June 2, 1999
This review is from: Evil Reborn (The Executioner #241) (Paperback)
This book has a lot of very cool ideas, but the writer just doesn't have te ability to write great characters enough to pull it off. I realize we don't usually read Mack Bolan books for teir characterization, but I at least want a villain who I hate. There's a great "show of power" that I won't spoil for you, but the author favors tactic explanation over getting us more involved with some compelling characterization. As it stands, the "bad-guys-try-something-and-are-thwarted-by-Bolan-so-they-try-something-else-and-are-thwarted-again-etc.-etc." thing gets old after a while, and it's too bad, because the whole Hydra thing sounds very intriguing. I'll read the other two boks in the triogy, but if they're more of the same, I fear it will have a good moment or two but ultimately leave me unsatisfied.
