As close to being in person as you can get,

Despite it's sound quality, "Evilive" is as close as anyone can get today to seeing the Danzig-era Misfits live. As just about everyone knows, this disc comes close to sounding like an import bootleg, but if you can get past that you'll get a sample of the surprisingly awesome power and energy of what a Misfits show was like back in their heyday. "Astro Zombies", "Horror Business", and "We Are 138" (with Henry Rollins!!!) were meant to be played live, although "Last Caress", "Die, Die My Darling", "Halloween", "She", and "Bullet" would have been more than welcome here as well. That aside, this is still worth picking up for all Misfits fans, although newcomers are better left starting off with either "Collection" album or "Static Age".

A must for hardcore, die hard Fiends!,

Having only witnessed the new school Misfits twice (both times excellent) I was interested in hearing some old school Misfits live with Glenn. Well, they were intense, as is this CD. The sound quality is not as bad as people say, just "turn it up...you want us to turn it up!" Any hardcore fiend will enjoy this CD greatly, since it gives newer Fiends a glimpse into the Misfits of old. BUY THIS!

The Legacy starts here....,

The Misfits Live. Why don't you own this album? Yes, the sound quality is bad, but anyone who knows anything about this band knows that Misfits shows were about the music, aggression, and creating a "fiendish" atmosphere not overproduction of their raw, stripped down sound. The Misfits Evilive might actually be a bootleg, but who cares you can still hear just about everything you need to. 20 eyes was the perfect choice to jump start this classic. This album is strong from start to finish and truly embodies what the Misfits were about live....Mayhem.

it's good,

The poor sound quality compliments the songs, and it's nice listening to the buzz of things on this album. Devil's Whorehouse is my favorite track and this album is pretty much Walk Among Us gone live, and the rendition of We Are 138 with Henry Rollins sounds noticably different than the original version, it's faster. Cheers.

awesome...,

i loved it! and if you think the production is bad on the misfits other cd's wait til you hear this...waaaay worse. and the track list is so-so i would have liked more songs on here. so why 5 stars? because when you listen to this you are stepping back in time to a live misfits show. i can only imagine what seeing them live would be like. the coolest thing about this album to me is in between songs glenn is talking to the audience, cussing and rambling on. at the end of nike a go-go he sais, "we gotta tune up, we pound these f***ing guitars like jackhammers; what do you think we're lightweights?" the aggressiveness he exhibits is unbelievable. another highlight is henry rollins from black flag chimes in on the last track, we are 138. get this if you love the fits.

EVILIVE COULD BE ONE OF THE BEST LIVE CDs EVER,
By A Customer
This review is from: Evilive (Audio CD)
Nothing can really capture the pure power of a Misfits show, but this made a really good attempt to. They really did put a lot of really good songs on here, such as "Night Of The Living Dead", "Astro Zombies", "Horror Business", "Hatebreaders", and "We Are 138" (I really would have liked to have heard "Last Caress" and "Die, Die My Darling on here though). There is only one really noticible flaw on here; it sounds like a bootleg. Literally, like someone had a low quality soundboard under the stage. Even though the sound quality is really weak on a couple of the songs, you get used to it and barely notice it. If you have never seen the Misfits in concert, YOU MUST! It is one of the best shows that can be seen.

... but if you wanna hear more of this show then seek out 'Death's Symphony' - now THAT's a bootleg cd.. It's got all the songs on here and more including a top version of their old time favourite 'i tuned into a martian'. also more tune-ups from doyle than you could shake your granny at - somebody get him another f***ing guitar !!!!!

For a live CD.,

This CD if you listen to it you can tell it was made years ago. The cd evilive (evil-live) is a live cd. They are awsome songs like "138" and "2o eyes". It feature Black Flag Singer for "138" (the last song). Plus sometime between songs they talk for like 3 sec. hahah. They say we got to toon these instruments and this next song is then (the songs name). And of course before every song the one little thing that the Misfits are most famous for doin is say 1, 2, 3, before each song.

If this isn't one of your two favorite Misfits albums because "the sound quality is poor", you just don't get it at all. This is as close to being there as you can get. It's a snapshot of time...... turn it up. The sound quality is part of this experience, for those of you who were born recently, so don't be afraid! Live a liitle EVIL........

Misfits: Evilive,
By WeAre138 (Green Hell) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Evilive (Audio CD)
The Misfits have put on legenday punkrock monster shows (I attended 5) and even though this is still very raw and brutal, it only captures half the energy they put out on stage. Sure, the production quality isn't good (the vocals fade in and out, it is mixed very low and there is a slight buzz) - but it is an awesome record. The very best live album ever. Very fast, brutal and most excellent. Also very good song selections by the band - and it is helarious too hear them yelling at the crowd inbetween songs (ex: [Glenn to crown]: F*** you, this is f***** Hatebreeders!) - overall - this is a very very good Misfits record. Go get it or be killed!
