Editorial Reviews

2013 two CD set. Evita, or Disco Evita as it was called at the time, was Disco pioneer Boris Midney's biggest commercial success and was a #1 Billboard Disco album at the time of release. It was commissioned by head or RSO Records Robert Stigwood and what sounds like a potential disaster on paper turned out to be amazingly well received. Because Evita was such a success Stigwood then asked Midney to add his Disco magic to the blockbuster follow up to Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back, and Disc Two features his unique take on the John Williams score. Harmless.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent April 8, 2013

If you've ever wanted to own this classic disco album this is the time and product. I own the import and the Russian bootleg versions of Disco Evita and can honestly say this 2 disc set is not only the most affordable but has by far the best sound quality of any of the releases. You would never know this recording is over 30 years old (yes, I know). The mastering is so crystal clear its sounds like it was originally recorded in full digital. Throw in the fact that it includes the original RSO 12" singles also sounding incredible plus the album "Empire strikes back" and it's a can't miss. Get it while you can and buy a 2nd copy at this price.

5.0 out of 5 stars The ultimate version!!! June 1, 2013
I first "discovered" Disco Evita when I found a vinyl version at my local Goodwill store, unfortunately in poor, but still listenable condition about 4 years ago. The original LP has the songs segueing, flowing seamlessly from one song to the next. Then the download becomes available, but with the irritation of the 3 to 4 second "break" in between the songs, totally ruining the overall mood of the work .But it was all that was available, until now. Disco Recharge, the same people that gave us the Disco Discharge series, has given us the ultimate version. After ordering it, and then popping it into my car CD player, listening to it from beginning to end, I went
"YES!!!!" This is the way it was supposed to be! Flowing from one song to the next, giving it a totally different mood. Get this CD while you still can! Support the disco recharge series!

I love Boris Midney's work. I didn't even know who the guy was until a few years ago, until I bought the book "Saturday Night Forever" and was made aware of him. The second CD "The Empire Strikes Back",for some reason, just leaves me cold .Nothing wrong with the music at all.... is it because they are all instrumentals? subconsciously thinking of Meco's "Star Wars?? I will have to give repeated listenings... I thought a better pairing would have been Disco Evita with Boris Midney's other project, Masquerade's superb "Pinnochio"( still to be released on CD ). BUY THIS CD!
