I purchased my VerticalMouse 2 in February of 2006, and it's been in use 8 hours a day, 5 days a week ever since. The wrist pains I had just accepted as "normal" after using traditional mice for years went away in a week. It took me about that long to get used to the shape of it too.
It's still a conversation piece whenever someone tries to use my computer. All the buttons and the scroll wheel work just as well as the day I bought it. The only sign of wear is the rubberized coating on the outside that's starting to peel a little bit. In more recent models (like the VerticalMouse 3) they've started offering different colors, which was my only real complaint about model 2 (it only came in purple). Other than that, a great investment that's lasted me quite a while.

I was having hand and wrist pain from using a regular mouse all day. I switched to this and it was gone in a week. It only took a couple days to get used to. I read reviews saying it was too big for some people. I have bigger than average hands and I think it could be bigger yet. I think you would have to have pretty small hands for it not to work. One problem I have ran into is that I will accidental click the button underneath my pinky (the buttons may be a little too sensitive). That said, it is nice having so many buttons and being able to customize them. I use the thumb button for browsing back and the pinky button for browsing forward. So if I accidentally click one or the other I can quickly go back. Overall, I am very happy and I would recommend it for anyone having arm, hand, or wrist pain or if you use a computer all day to prevent any pain before it starts.

Greatest mouse ever invented.,

This mouse completely cured my carpal tunnel syndrome. It therefore saved my job. I simply can't understand why more people don't use this mouse.
It feels strange to use it for the first 15 minutes, then it's just like any other mouse. My wife had the same quick learning curve and now she loves it, too. I have tried trackballs in the past and could never get used to them. I have tried numerous mice by Logitech, which were nice, but never relieved my carpal tunnel syndrome. This mouse is extremely high quality. It feels solid as rock. I have used it daily, eight hours per day, for 18 months, and even dropped it a few times, but it performed flawlessly and shows no signs of wear. I use is it both on a Mac and pc. There is no need for any special drivers. I work with InDesign doing newspaper layout on a 27" monitor. This mouse is extremely precise and allows me to perform my selections more easily than other mice. I would give it ten stars if I could.

It took a day or so to get used to this mouse with its "handshake" grip. Once that is done, the mouse is really great and very comfortable.

The mouse does not allow the hand to sit vertically with the thumb flat as desired. The design does not allow enough grip for control which thus creates the need for more pressure. Material feels good but does not meet my ergonomic need. Also a bit overpriced.

I actually have the Version 2 of this mouse. I've had it for a while now, and I love it. I'm on the computer at work then back on the computer at home. And for a while I was editor of my club's multi-page "newsletter." Wrist pain was becoming an ongoing problem. I don't know how my wrist would feel if I had this mouse both at home and at work. Instead, I bought this for myself and use a regular mouse at work and wrist pain stopped being a problem. It took me more than 15 minutes for the mouse to feel "normal," but now, it's as "second nature" as the work mouse. I'm a female with rather stubby fingers to boot, and I don't have a problem with the size of the mouse. That said, I'm middle of the road in tech-savyness and don't use all the buttons to their fullest potential. I don't put my thumb anywhere near the thumb button. I open my hand a bit wider and put my thumb well well below the button. I'm actually below but right on the border of the depression for the thumb. I find I have much better control and comfort that way. When I use the wheel "button" I move my hand, placing the thumb just above the thumb button and turn the wheel with my index finger. I don't find moving my hand up and down a problem because, if I'm using the scroll wheel I usually wont need to maneuver the mouse for a while.
