Double disc version has some rareties and oddities,

This review is from: Evolution (Audio CD)
For big collectors of Dead or Alive, this disc is a must. It has some real hard to get stuff on CD, but it's not without surprise mixes, and problem mixes. From what I can determine these are some of the issues:
CD1 1) you spin me round (performance mix) (7:27) (good alternative to the US 12" mix) 2) My Heart Goes Bang (US wipe out 12") (6:00) (Unfortunately, it fades 15 seconds earlier than the actual 12"!!!!) 3) sex drive (6:36) (this is a different and longer mix than the Nukleopatra CD version) 4) what I want (5:50) (this is the 12" version-EDITED! 12" runs 6:14) 5) brand new lover (4:47) 6) misty circles (4:39) (Longer than the LP version, but not the 12") 7) love come back to me (4:57) (this might be the UK 12". It's not the US 12") 8) I'll save you all my kisses (3:36) 9) I don't wanna be your boyfriend (4:42) 10) hooked on love (5:15) (not the LP version, but an extended version) 11) I'm a star (4:35) (edit of LP version) 12) something in my house (the FRAGILE CD version, which is a modern remix) 13) isn't it a pity (the FRAGILE CD mix) 14) you spin me round (metro mix 7") CD2 1) I'd Do Anything (5:23) (this is the full 12" version!!!) 2) come home with me baby (3:57) 3) that's the way I like it (3:06) (shorter mix than the original LP version) 4) international thing (3:44) (shorter than original LP version) 5) in too deep (3:50) (a different mix than the LP version) 6) unhappy birthday (7:31) (remix from the Nukleopatra CD) 7) I Paralyze (5:57) (FRAGILE CD version) 8) baby don't say goodbye (6:15) (slightly longer than the NUDE CD version) 9) turn around and count to ten (6:54) (slight remix of NUDE CD version) 10) your sweetness is your weakness (5:49) (LP version) 11) nukleopatra (4:18) (slightly different mix than LP version) 12) rebel rebel (4:03) (shorter than LP version) 13) hit & run lover (4:41) (FRAGILE CD version) 14) you spin me round (6:20) (mark moore & mr motion extended remix)

I buy anything they do and am always happy if something new comes out. Of course you can't disagree that this Greatest Hits is great, because it includes all their greatest hits :) And also some of the rather hard to get Japanese stuff. Nevertheless, I would also like to get NEW stuff or maybe even new remixes. This is a good album for all the people who have to catch up, but please do something new too :)

I'm giving the imported two CD version of Dead Or Alive's EVOLUTION a big five stars.
Not only does it contain pretty much all of the group's big 80s hits like "You Spin Me Round (Like A Record)," "My Heart Goes Bang," and "Lover Come Back To Me," all from Youthquake, it also contains their follow up hits like "Brand New Lover," "Something In My House," and "I'll Save You All My Kisses." And if that weren't enough it also contains "I'd Do Anything," "Misty Circles," and a fantastic cover version of KC & The Sunshine Band's "That's The Way (I Like It)," from their first album Sophisticated Boom Boom. The sheer variety of tracks on EVOLUTION should make any diehard fan (like me) happy, and provide a good sampling for those who aren't that familiar with the "other" big band from Liverpool, England. There are some new mixes to the songs "You Spin Me Round," "My Heart Goes Bang," and "Something In My House," but they retain enough of the original flavor so they aren't messed up. When the music video to "You Spin Me Round" debuted in the 80s, I was instantly hooked. I became a HUGE Pete Burns/Dead Or Alive fan and wasted most of my teenage years trying to emulate his look--I had a huge crush on him, finding that he was the perfect blend of masculine and feminine. Anyway, I always thought that Burns had the most magnificent vocal gift, almost operatic, as he would rip through the songs and hold those notes with perfect pitch and vibrato. Hearing them again and I realize that I was right on the money. Where much of the 80s music sounds dated today, at least to my ear, and some with the most absurd lyrics ever (i.e. Haysi Fantayzee's "Shiny, Shiny"), Dead Or Alive manages to sound fresh, catchy, and still very relevant. The packaging isn't so good. This is an import from Korea, but it does have liner notes in English by Pete Burns, Yay! Also, the two CDs come in a hardcover book-type case but the CD sleeves are just cardboard and they're attached to the pages of the booklet, which have came off of the spine, so they don't protect the CDs from scratches very well. So thumbs down for the packaging. There are some pics in the booklet but they're all of Burns after the numerous surgeries, which is a shame because I would have liked to see more pics from their heyday in the 80s.
