Product Description

The 3 Legged Thing X2.1 Eddie Evolution 2 CF Tripod System w/AirHed 2 Ball Head (Black) is a stylish and extremely compact travel tripod system, the smallest in 3LT's 29mm Pro range of tripods. With the ball head attached to the tripod, the system extends from a minimum height of 4.72" to a maximum height of 64.56". Folded down to 15.74", the X2.1 Eddie is a versatile professional camera support system that fits in most airline carry-on bags. The X2.1 Eddie's legs are composed of 3LT's Stealth carbon fiber for superbly lightweight strength - the tripod system weighs just 2.87 lb and supports up to 26.45 lb, to accommodate any DSLR with most lenses. One of the tripod legs unscrews to become a monopod. The center column is both removable and reversible to accommodate shooting from the lowest of low angles. Leg angles can be set at three different positions; at their widest and with the column removed, the AirHed 2's camera plate sits only 4.7" from the ground. The AirHed 2 is a sturdy magnesium alloy ball head that features separate control knobs for pan lock, tilt lock and Arca-style clamping of the included quick-release plate. There's also a tension control built into the tilt-lock knob.

I for one love this tripod! The best balance of strength, portability, versatility and charming good looks. There's only one other company thats makes a similar tripod this strong and folds up this small, but thier's doesn't have 3 leg positions, a head that can go directly on the legs sans column or as nice a quality of carbon fiber. My only issue really is that the bronze paint has a tendency to get scuffed easily, but that's purely cosmetic. But, I don't doubt a few defects here and there- I had the 'Keith' from 3LT too and went through 3 of them before I got one that was in good working order. I haven't had any issues with the Eddie though (but I'm on my second one because the first I got from Amazon seemed to have been used and abused before I got it)- the Keith, it was mainly the AH0 had first a stop screw that was cross threaded, the second had a knob that was set to close to the head base to be able to tighten it down and the last one had a head that wasn't moving smoothly, small things but there none the less. But, I'm ok with having to try a few to get one that's perfect, its a great tripod, everything I need, nothing I don't. I do wish the carry bags were a bit less bulky and more stylish to match, but not a big deal...

I had previously wrote a negative review on this particular tripod (the first one I had the legs fell off it). I tried to get in in touch with 3LT 2 times I did not get a response from them. Then the company I bought it from notified 3LT and they replace the tripod. Although I have not used in the field yet I wanted to revise the negative review I previously left.
