Edge of Sanity 101,

This review is from: Evolution (Audio CD)
The 2-disc collection Evolution was originally released to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of Swedish death metal pioneers Edge of Sanity, but since the band didn't last much beyond its release date, Evolution also serves as the perfect retrospective on the band's legendary career. Here's what you get: Disc 1 1. Pernicious Anguish (demo) 2. Immortal Souls (demo) 3. Maze of Existence (demo) 4. The Dead (demo) 5. Angel of Distress (remixed/remastered) - Originally found on 1991's Nothing But Death Remains 6. Everlasting - Originally found on 1992's Unorthodox 7. After Afterlife - Also from Unorthodox 8. Human Aberration (Dread vocals) - Alternate version of the Unorthodox song 9. Kill the Police (Cryptic Death cover) - At just 41 seconds, blink and you'll miss it 10. When All is Said - Also from Unorthodox 11. Blood of My Enemies (Manowar cover) - from 1994's The Spectral Sorrows 12. Elegy (demo) - From the Spectral Sorrows sessions Disc 2 1. The Masque (remix) - From The Spectral Sorrows 2. Pernicious Anguish (remastered) - Formerly exclusive to the Japanese import version of Nothing But Death Remains 3. Until Eternity Ends (remix/rerecording) - This song was originally included on the Until Eternity Ends EP 4. Songs of Sirens (remix) - Originally found on 1994's Purgatory Afterglow 5. Criminally Insane (Slayer cover, remastered) 6. Murder Dividead (remix) - Originally found on the Black Mark Attack compilation 7. I Wanna Go Home (Sator cover, remastered) 8. Damned By the Damned (remastered) - From 1996's Infernal 9. Moonshine (remastered) - Previously unreleased 10. Bleed You Dry (remastered) - From 1997's Cryptic 11. Mother (Danzig cover, remastered) - From the Black Mark Tribute II album 12. Epidemic Reign - New recording For new fans, Evolution is the perfect introduction to Edge of Sanity's unique sound. It also has enough previously unreleased and/or remixed/remastered material to make it a worthwhile purchase for long time fans as well. If that isn't enough, the liner notes feature tons of photos and some detailed liner notes from Edge of Sanity founder Dan Swano. PS - I'll add this for anyone thinking Evolution is "one stop shopping" for Edge of Sanity. If you like what you hear, you absolutely MUST pick up the epic Crimson album. It's a 40-minute, single-song progressive death metal tour de force that belongs in every extreme metal fan's collection.

its been a long time since the last one and the waiting time was definitely worth it. their usual death riffs and vocals and great musicianship. not to match with their masterpiece crimson but stands alone in itself as a good album
