5.0 out of 5 stars They never sounded better!, December 12, 2002
This review is from: Evolution (Audio CD)
This is the best recording that Geoff Moore and the Distance ever produced, barely edging above _Home Run_ for that prestigious distinction. This CD has it all--the catchy, creative title track, the blood-pumping "Godgottaholdonme," the tender "If You Could See What I See," a lotsa-fun remake of the goldie oldie "I Can See Clearly Now," the stirring anthem "That's When I'll Know I'm Home," the quiet, humble "When All is Said and Done." Not a single track of this CD misses the bullseye, and all fans will be familiar with the classic rocker "Why Should the Devil." Anyone who likes even a single song of GMD needs to buy this now while they still can--it won't be around for long!

4.0 out of 5 stars This album rocks!, June 20, 2001
This review is from: Evolution (Audio CD)
This is the first Geoff Moore album I purchased and is still my favorite. Why Should The Devil Have All The Good Music says it all...This is rock with a Christian attitude. I recently saw him since he broke off from the Distance. He was good, but nothing like what is heard on this album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lobby to bring this one back!, July 21, 1999

This is an outstanding CD! Especially if you like Christian music and Geoff Moore in particular. All of these songs are great! Most have ended up on his Greatest Hits CD. Too bad, though, that "Godgettaholdonme" didn't make it there too. It is one of my favorites. "I Can See Clearly Redefined" is a very good remake of the original "I Can See Clearly Now." Geoff, if you get this message, tell the "powers that be" to reissue this CD.

This is some old school Christian Rock. I remember listening to this album right after it came out. I used to listen to it all the time growing up. I still enjoy going back to it now and then. My favorite track on this album is "Life Together." It is one of the softer songs on the album. If you enjoy this one, check out some of the other albums by Geoff Moore and the Distance. "A Friend Like U" is one of my favorites.

5.0 out of 5 stars They were rock before rock was cool....., June 18, 2003

Geoff Moore & The Distance knew how to rock long before the Christian community figured out that they could rock and worship God at the same time. In addition, most of the group looked like they could pass for members of other, more mainstream rock groups. As a result, most Christian radio stations of the day (and even today) shunned away from their music. The fact that they still managed such a big fan base is a testimony to their music.

"Evolution" is, in my opinion, one of the best albums of all time. This album has it all, from the title track "Evolution...Redefined" to a fun remake of "I can See Clearly Now" to one of the all-time best Christian songs, "Why Should The Devil (Have All The Good Music)." If you have never heard that song before, you need to. It perfectly sums up the attitude of this group.

In addition to the songs mentioned above, the group also showcases the ability to musically tone it down when the words in a song are bigger than the song itself, as evidenced in "Heart To God, Hand To Man." This powerful song will touch your heart in a way few songs can do.

This album is a great way to start your Geoff Moore & The Distance collection. Although the group is no longer together, their music still lives on and can still be enjoyed.
