5.0 out of 5 stars Great one volume history!, May 7, 2004

This review is from: Evolution of Modern Popular Music: A history of Blues, Jazz, Country, R&B, Rock and Rap (Paperback)
This reader friendly book is a great one-volume overview of the history of pop music. Wonderful pictures of musicians and well documented. I really appreciated how the author connected the various musical styles. Although I am a rock music fan I enjoyed discovering the origins of the Blues, Jazz and Rap music. Highly recommended.

This review is from: Evolution of Modern Popular Music: A history of Blues, Jazz, Country, R&B, Rock and Rap (Paperback)
I loved this book! It gives a basic framework for the develpment of popular music, describing different styles of music and how they started and also how they influenced each other. It is great for the amatuer music historian and for fans of many forms of music. I constantly go back to this book when reading other historical books to see how things fit together.
