5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Ever BMcKnight!
Ok I own everything Mr. McKnight has ever produced and I dare say this is the best one ever. I have never written a review, but I couldn't help it. 3.0 out of 5 stars Keep it Real!
I must say that Brain McKnight is highly respected in the industry. Although this album is not high powered, vocals are on point. Brain is a perfectionist and when it comes to arrangements and musical rareness he brings a freshness to the game. I won't say that this album is bad, but I really don't hear any radio hits on this album. This album is truly for McKnight fans and if you enjoy true music you will enjoy this album. I do believe that he will come stronger on the next album, so I will consider this one a dessert for now.

I am normally the first on with the new BMcKnight CD, but this time I was told my one of my BFFs and I mean I went right to the store found it and am loving it!!! OK track 5, 8 & 9 are my favorites - but I absolutely love the entire CD. If you do not own any of Mr. McKnight's CDs make sure you get them. The title is so correct the Evolution of a Man, it's all in there and I love how he continues to go outside the box and still be true to himself... OMG!

5.0 out of 5 stars Evolution Of A Man - Wow!!!, October 27, 2009

There are a few artists whose music I can purchase without listening to because I know that I can depend on the artist to deliver a great project. Brian McKnight is one such artist who has consistently delivered great projects and stellar live performances over the last 20 years. I am in awe of his gift so I celebrate the man and his music.

Please don't hesitate to purchase this cd which I believe to be one of his best! All the elements that make McKnight special are present: great lyrics, vocals, music, storytelling, production, vibes, pure artistry, interpretation, timing, spirit, and magic. My personal favorites are JustALittleBit, ibetchaneva, whenURlovinme, whati'vebeenwaitingfor, whenURlovinme, Another You, and Not Alone.

For the lovers of real grown-folks music, this cd delivers from start to finish. Just put the cd on and let the lovin' on a deeper level begin-Enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Different Label, Same Brian, Good Album!, October 27, 2009

eWorks! (Toronto, ON) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Evolution of a Man (Audio CD)
I have been looking forward to this album since I heard it was coming out. It got pushed back a few times but its finally here. I saw the album cover before I saw the track listing I was about to be depressed because I thought it a gospel album(I have nothing against gospel just tired of everyone thinking they have to do a gospel album)

So I have listened to this cd 3 times continiously and I really like it. This album is what I was expecting Brian to put out. After I heard the first single "What I've Been Waiting For" I had a feeling(hope) that he kept the album to his usual style. I loved all songs on here apart from "Next 2 U" and "While". I didn't feel "Next 2 U" because I felt its trying to be too mainstream. "While" has this raggae/jazzy vibe to it and it didn't think that mix worked that well.

After 3 listens my favourite tracks are "Another You", "Always Be My Baby" & "Never Say Goodbye". Again all tracks are good and I didn't have to skip any songs but those 3 stuck in my mind.

Brian's regular fans will love this album and be happy because he's stuck to what he does best sing ballads and very well. I'm glad he avoided jams featuring rappers because that doesn't work and I hated his previous efforts.

This album will definitely not bring new fans because its just Brian being Brian. I don't think he got any new fans since Back At One as his album have been consistently the same style. As good as I think this album is, it will not be marketed much if at all, again the last time this was done was Back At One. Good thing he has a radio show now and he can plug this album as much as he wants.

Overall great effort from Brian definitely worth the $10. Now lets see what you do with Niko and Brian Jr. "McKnight" album. eric!

5.0 out of 5 stars Brian McKnight - Evolution of a Man, February 16, 2010

I did not purchase this CD on Amazon so I cannot report on shipping. This CD is definately a hidden jewel. Brian McKnight continues in the sultry, romantic, classy tradition of the early '90's slow jams. Brian McKnight does an amazing job of singing love songs that would put anyone in the mood. His songs are not the vulgar, in-your-face material that we hear today, but they are the slow and sensual songs an adult would be willing to listen to. There are some faster tracks on the CD which are not bad either. If you are considering the purchase if this CD, you'll be in for a definite treat. As always...YMMV. NEOSOUL

3.0 out of 5 stars Have to agree with Randy and Coach, January 6, 2010
This review is from: Evolution of a Man (Audio CD)
I have to agree with those who give this a "one thumb up" vs. two thumbs up, this is not his best work by far. There are maybe 2 cuts that could make it to my mp3 player...but that's it, the rest are...as Simon Cowell would say..."forgettable". This album doesn't touch some of his previous work, seems like someone must have convinced him to slip into the "cookie cutter" commercial sound of today's 25 and under crowd (who unfortunately grew up in the "commercial sound" era and don't know any better). But, all that being said, to each his own...if you like the album buy it, but my advice to true connoisseurs of music is to just plop down the .99 cents for the one or two songs that you want on your playlist.

This album was long overdue and well worth the wait. I am a true Brian fan and absolutely love this album. I listen to it everyday. Track 13 is my favorite and track 9 is a close second. Trust me, when you purchase this album, you will have several favorites also.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful CD!!!!!!!!!, October 27, 2009
This review is from: Evolution of a Man (Audio CD)
I am a die hard Brian Mcknight fan. I finally got to see him in concert and REALLY enjoyed myself. During his concert, he mentioned his CD coming out and I couldn't wait to buy it. I have all of his CD's and I never expect anything less because I know Brian's CD will be awesome and besides Brian doesn't have to compete with anyone else, he's an talented singer. This CD is worth buying. And it doesn't matter if he doesn't attract new fans because his music isn't for everyone. It's for the "grown folks". I think he has already established his fans and they are here to stay!!!!!

2.0 out of 5 stars This is tired, just plain ol' tired !!, October 29, 2009
By
This review is from: Evolution of a Man (Audio CD)
I'm a diehard Brian fan, so there was no question about purchasing this CD, but this was boring, weak, tired. What was that background drivel on Next 2U? Where's the music, the voice? Only song I like is While. Sorry, Brian, come correct next time, right down to spelling. I can't stand this internet shorthand used today, guess it appeals to the younger crowd, but it's tacky, along with this CD !!

I am a big Brian McKnight fan, his past albums are always in my music rotation. It seems like Brian did not put a lot of time or soul into this album. He is a great artist but he missed the boat on this one.
