This movie displays many different and unique opinions on the battle between evolution vs. creation. Many new ideas are brought up which I have never considered. The movie was also relatively humorous. The movie displays many opinions over the question but does not come to a decisive conclusion of it. It also bgecomes a bit repetitive as it wears on.

This is a good movie for the people that are beginning to learn about both Evolution and Creationism. This movie has a good balance between both ideas. It also shows that it is possible for someone to believe in both Creationism and Evolution. So this movie is great for the people that want to learn the basics but for people who are ready to go into the situation deeper should use a different movie. But it is a great movie is for school because it does not try to convince the viewer to go one way or the other. It just gives you the facts and lets you decide on your own which is great for students who are trying to determine what to believe in and what to think. So I would definitely recommend this movie to schools. I enjoyed this movie because none of it was pointless. Every minute of the movie had a point, and was discussing something. Which is great because it kept my attention because I was afraid I was going to miss something. It was also great to me because I never thought about being able to believe in both Creationism and Evolution. But this movie put that option out there for me which was great. I did not find one thing bad about this movie and once again I would recommend this movie to any school that is teaching their students about Evolution and Creationism.

This is a very good movie to watch in class do to its broad expanse of opinions and high eductional value. First, however it does help to learn what each side is talking about. This movie doesn't try to change people's opinions. Rather it is trying to explain the opinions of students who are split down the middle. The students are mostly science majors who are at a christian schools. Overall this is a solid movie that is good for classroom viewing.

4.0 out of 5 stars Evolution, Part 7: What About God?, September 6, 2004

The film, Evolution; Part 7:What About God?, gave both sides of the the Evolution versus Creationism an equal chance to tell their side of the story. In the movie many people explain their theories on evolution. There all sorts of people telling their theories. There were true evolutionists, true creationists, people half way, and people that were totally confused about the whole matter. But, everybody that was in the film had evidence and historical facts to validate their theories.
I found the film very enlightening because I had never heard the whole story of evolution, being a Catholic. I still do believe in creationism but I also believe in evolution in some instances. I have great respect for both sides because of all the proof each side has. But, who knows, both could be incorrect.
I found the conversation Nathan Baird had with his father about the issue very interesting because he mentioned the Big Bang theory and how it compliments creationism. I also believe in this theory because it explains the universe being created from nothing and just appearing. Who could have done this? It could have been God.

"And the Oscar goes to...Evolution, Part 7: What About God?" I am surprised I have never herd that statement. The film, what about God? Was an excellent documentary video.
I enjoyed watching it because the movie didn't push issues upon me, and that is vary hard to do when discussing creationism and evolution. The movie gave vary critical and excellent points from each side. I was also vary impressed that the movie interviewed people that had vary strong opinions on evolution or creationism, and those like me, who are torn between the two. That made the movie vary easy to relate to. The movie also interviewed people from all over the country. The talked to a young students who are torn between creationism and evolution that attended Wheaton College in Illinois, which is primarily a Christian school, that has a lot of students majoring in science related fields, a group of students that attended Jefferson High School in Lafayette, Kentucky, who believe that Creationism should be taught with Evolutionism in the same class room.
I really only have one bone to pick with the editor of this movie. I did not enjoy the way he edited this movie, the movie skipped around between all of the interviewees, by doing this it confused me after a while. I believe that the editor should have done everything about the same person all together instead of breaking it up.
I also believe that the movie was quite long. I would have gladly giving this movie 5 stars if wasn't 2 hours long. If the movie was around an hour or so I would have been vary happy.
In conclusion I was vary fond of Evolution, Part 7: What About God? to be excellent movie, although it may be a little much to considered it to be Oscar worthy it was a great film. That is a huge compliment coming from a person who goes to church only on Christmas and Easter. I cannot wait to find out if there is a sequel.

4.0 out of 5 stars What About God?, September 5, 2004
This review is from: Evolution: What About God [VHS] (VHS Tape)
The movie explains both sides to the controversy, which is were humans created by god or that humans evolved from a lesser animal. The movie explains both sides very well with a number of interviews from both sides. The movie does not push either side one the viewer which is very hard to do. The movie gave very accurate information about both theories and did not make one theory seem less than the other. The movie also interviewed many students faced with the decision between the two theories. It showed several interviews of people who attend Wheaton College and are struggling to make the decision. The film also showed students from Jefferson High school that believed that Creationism should be taught along side Evolutionism. The film did not change my mind in what I believe, but it did enlighten me to other ideas and why other people believe those ideas. I would recommend this movie to be shown in the classroom. I think it would enlighten other students too.

The film, What About God?, was to be very interesting. The story line of the film depicted several cases in which teenagers, who were firm believers in the theory of creation, were presented with the theory of evolution. This abrupt exposure to evolution left the teenagers in inner turmoil. They were confused as to how evolution could possibly have occurred, when their entire life, they had been taught that creation was the only way for life to have started. Each of the teenagers had come to a certain point in their lives, all from different backgrounds, yet all faced the same question, what about God? Where does God fit into the theory of evolution? One particular young man attended Wheaton College, Science Major. Upon his return home to his family for a holiday, he expressed his concerns about evolution and creation. He was able to see first hand that many creationists don't even take the time to find any information out about evolution before pronouncing it incorrect.
Many Creationists try to ignore the fact the evolution has proof and that it could possibly be correct. When strong religious people are faced with scientific facts that oppose their religious views, they feel threatened. Some parents would rather see their children dead than to see them believing in evolution, believing in the very idea they have fought their entire lives. However, it is my belief that, a person cannot fight a war against an enemy they know nothing about. It is not possible to ignore that evolution does have supporting facts and data. Many Christians are too stubborn to admit that evolution is possible. Creationists need to have an open mind about other theories. Lots of Christians are able to find some sort of middle ground between the two theories, a world where evolution and creation can co-exist.
This film portrays a struggle that is tearing our world apart, with a war that will have no end. There is more evidence supporting evolution everyday, but still more Christians fighting for creation, even over 140 years after Darwin. Millions fight this war with no end every day of their lives. The foundations of many countries and nations have changed, not to mention the individual lives of people all over the world. The United States tries hard to separate science and religion, though I believe that you cannot have one theory without the other, and that in order for an individual to decide what they really believe, they must be presented with both sides of the story. Although many people have different twists and ideas on the problem, it all comes down to one question, what about God? These three words have resulted in a very confused world.
I found that the content of the film was all right, though I did find it to be very repetitive. It would have been a much better 15-minute film that a 2 hour one. However, the information was accurate and was presented in an unbiased manner. It did not change my beliefs, but I was able to see the struggle that many individuals go through. The editing of the film definitely had room for improvement. I did not like that the film skipped from character to character as often as it did. It would have been much better had it showed one persons entire story before going to the next. On the whole, I found the film to be mildly enjoyable.

4.0 out of 5 stars Evolution vs. Creationism., September 4, 2004
This review is from: Evolution: What About God [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This movie was interesting because it gave some rarely-heard view points. It showed me some of the conflicting views and what some people have to go through while trying to decide for themselves what they believe. Most movies about the evolution/creationism conflict are biased and don't give alot of information about one of the theories, but that was not the case with this film. What About God? gave supporting ideas about both sides of the argument, so it was easier to take it all in and not feel offended by a biased view. I, myself, believe in the evolution theory, but because of this video, i now understand more about the creationism theory. It did not change my mind, but it helped me understand the opposing side more. I enjoyed all of the different view points the film showed. Scientists, religious speakers, highschool students, and christian college students all got to say how they feel about the issue, and it was refreshing to hear so many opinions. I liked What About God? very much, because it was not offensive, yet showed both sides of the conflict.

4.0 out of 5 stars What about God, September 3, 2004
This review is from: Evolution: What About God [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This movie presented a very impartial perspective on the personal debate of evolution vs. creationism. The film started with Ken Ham, and active creationist convincing a school the proof and existence of God while denying evolution. Though shortly after it had arguments for the other side. The movie continued distributing arguments evenly throughout the entire movie. It did not, however, have an answer at the end of the movie, but let you decide the answer by only giving you the facts and not even putting in their opinion.

While giving many opinions in the film, it also gave many factual incidences in which people refused to accept the information given to them. Some Lafayette high school students strayed away from the theory that every thing evolved from something else. They did not desire for the curriculum to teach what they called, "Special Creation," but also wanted evolution to be taught so that the children could make their own decisions. Unfortionally their request was not granted. In Wheaton College some students strayed away from the fact that God created all the creatures in 1 day and they did not evolve into anything else, but either side the kids were coming from or going to, they all just wanted to know the truth about what happened. The movie also included arguments that I found believable that did favor one side or the other.

The movie also did show some somewhat unbelievable information. It had some people who projected points, which I found ridiculous. One of these includes some students and teachers who accepted both creation and evolution. Personally I believe that while there are two different views on the subject, they disagree with each other to the extent where they could not co-exist with one another. I also didn't agree with the people who not admittingly were totally closed minded about the subject. Overall I did like the movie, and while I found some of the people's view unbelievable I did think the movie presented all the facts without favoring one side or the other.

This movie is about the conflict between creationism and evolution. In the movie many different people were interviewed as well as many different points of view expressed. Some of which were from students attending Wheaton College, Illinois and from Jefferson High School in Lafayette, Kentucky. The students at Wheaton expressed confusion between their science and their religion. As well as one student's parents who were concerned about the views that their son had when he came home with from Wheaton. In Jefferson High School the students expressed the concern of teaching both sides of the story - evolution and creationism - and letting the students decide for themselves.
I liked the editing in the movie. I felt that the movie was edited in a way that could be understood but wasn't too much.
The editors, rather than keeping the camera on one person for a long period of time, went from person to person so the viewers could hear different people's point of view about the same topic. It also makes it more interesting. I learned from the movie that you must know both sides of the story to make an educated argument.
Although I liked the editing I didn't like some of the transitions. Such as, in one case they went from a group having a discussion to a group singing. I thought that that was totally and completely irrelevant to the topic. I also didn't like how some people repeated what others said. I understand that they weren't the same people but it is up to the editors not to repeat too much information.
Although I like some ideas and dislike some I feel that overall this was an educational movie and would recommend it to be viewed in the classroom.

4.0 out of 5 stars Apes vs. Adam, September 3, 2004

This review is from: Evolution: What About God [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I would like to start off by saying that this movie was excellent in the way it showed both sides of the subject. It presents the theory of evoultion introduced by Charles Darwin in his book The Orgin of Species in 1859, while still respecting the theory of creationism. It was very interesting learning about the struggle of scientists that believe in evolution against the many people who refused to accept this theory.
It explained the struggle of William Jennings Brian in the "Scopes Monkey Trial" in 1925. It also discussed another event which also helped to revive science and evolution in classrooms around the world. This event was the launch of the first satillite, Sputnik, by the Soviet Union.
I enjoyed how this movie interviewed so many different people throughout the country. Some of them had very strong and distinct views while others were very unsure and confused. The movie went to Wheaton College in Illinois for many different opinions from students, teachers, and parents. This is a religious college that went through a big controversy in 1961 when Walter Hearn, a student, said that the same chemical processes in evolution could have been used to create Adam and Eve. This quickly changed many of the students' and teachers' views.
Those are just some of the reasons that I enjoyed this movie. It wasn't biased or one sided which made it a very easy movie to watch. I would recommend this movie to anybody who would like to learn more about evolution and creationism.
