This review is from: Evolutionary Psychology: An Introduction (Paperback)
As a budding Evolutionary Psychologist, I've learned the hypotheses and theories presented from an anthropological method and am now into the psychological method. They're the same overall, though this book brings in a few hypotheses that I didn't know, so it's incredibly informative. The writing style is fluid, and I was pleased to see them cover basic biology (which EVERY psychologist should know) within the first few chapters, as well as the history of evolutionary theory and it's role in our understanding the world.
I highly recommend this book for those who want to learn how our behavior is shaped by natural and sexual selection. If you don't know much about evolution, however, I recommend reading up on it first, as understanding such a complex theory is essential for understanding how it shapes our behavior. Overall, it's well written, concise for what it covers, and great for introducing the reader into basic concepts of biology that are essential for understanding any part of psychology. |
