Not just another.., February 27, 2002

Evolva is supremely fun. As a game developer I like to try a variety of games to formulate new ideas of my own, and this looked like a really good/original idea. From the first level I was hooked. Why wasn't this game advertised better? (magazines, websites, etc.) However, I did have some problems. To start there was something wrong with the video and I had distant terrains showing up through the fog as grayish/white patches and lines.. I asked activision about this and found it was something about my video card (drivers). No game fault, but they didn't assist me any further. I found the multiplayer gamer lacking, though I didn't have the internet, or any network connect, at the time. the weapons and controls don't really blend well w/ MP, since this game, as it seems, was set up for single player. There were times, not often though, the characters displayed poor path finding. If you told them to move to a far off locations w/ obstacles in the way, they would get lost, but usually this worked well, very well actually. The manual! I didn't care the the black and white manual, especially when they referred to colors in the pictures to explain what the particular stat means. .. There is a LOT more to like than not; I had a hard time thinking of these few things.. Overall its a blast--so none of my 'dislikes' should hinder your potential purchase. Especially since I bought this game when it cost a lot more than the current price, and I still loved it :)

A Shooter for the Drinker in you all., June 23, 2000
This review is from: Evolva (CD-ROM)
This is just a cool game. You need to try it. I thought "oh goody. another 3rd person shooter" but then i played it on a whim and I found it incredibly fun. Being able to jack-up your 4 evolution junkie soldiers along entirely different paths of abilities and appearances is just fun.
