With guitar and djembe in hand, Cadence is a regular feature performer at venues up and down the east coast. She has opened for such folk artists as Susan Werner, The Kennedys, Ellis Paul, Einsteins Little Humunculous, Karen Savoca and Peter Heitzman and many more.
When shes not performing her own music, Cadence can be found providing support as a back-up percussionist and vocalist. She has played professionally with Vanida Gail, Hugh Blumenfeld, The Kennedys, Ina May Wool, and she is currently a member of the Terence Martin Band. Shes also been known to jump onstage at a moments notice with almost anyone who asks for a little drumming.

Indie artist comin' out of the woodwork... it's about time!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Evolve (Audio CD)
Cadence Carroll is a fantastic indie artist who combines her original upbeat folkie sylings with her fantastic world drumming technique and overall neo-hippie attitude. This is a great album that speaks to "real people". I expect that we'll see great things coming from her. Definitely put this one in your shopping cart.

Cadence was in Chapel Hill, North Carolina in October 2009 working with Sloan Wainwright. They sang a number of tunes from Sloan's delightful covers set Rediscovery. Cadence sang on a number of tracks on that CD including Neil Young's "After the Gold Rush." Sloan told us that Cadence teaches music & that she drove them all from Connecticut. Cadence seemed like the quintessentially happy person, such a glowing smile and so much energy that she about jumped up & down. That experience prompted me to search out this CD. The opening title track is a complete gem with Cadence's diembe throbbing with Pete & Maura Kennedy's vocals swirling choir-like, "This joining echoes warm a covenant of light; It's a pairing of a hope that gives the power to unite." "This Song I Know" is a lovely song, a great piece of songwriting, with its swaying rhythm spiced with Spanish guitar, "When I shiver in the heat, the noonday sun coating me, Something has to change in me." After several folk tunes such as the lovely "Harvard Square," the CD explodes with the rhythmic "Jingo" and Cadence's driving percussion. This is a real treat! "Lilith & Eve" puts a twist on the Adam & Eve story & was inspired by Carol Christ's book Womanspirit Rising: A Feminist Reader in Religion. "Kpalago" taps African traditions on the rhythmic choral track. "Evolve" is a lovely set from a bright spirit. I hope we hear more from her soon! Enjoy!
