1.0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your time or money. February 14, 2015
Platform for Display:PlayStation 4|Edition:Standard
I wanted to like it... but it's a terrible waste of time and money. This should be a free to play game, but they somehow they still charged full price for it. It feels incomplete; can you say lack-of-content? The full game feels like a demo or a beta... there is not even a campaign mode. Graphics are ok, some of the special moves are slightly cool but gameplay is very boring. No back story, no point to doing anything really. They advertised "800,000 combinations", but there's not... it's basically the same thing no matter what. In my opinion, it's obvious that game developers have their hands in the wallets/pockets of professional game reviewers when they give games like Evolve a review score of 9 out of 10!

This game is also the perfect example of how greedy developers have become. I don't mind DLC, I know at the end of the day it's about money... but this game takes it to the next level of greed and shamelessness with the paid DLC. It's like $7.00 just to change the color of a monster! They call it a 'skin' of course, but it's more like a color swap. We had a huge gaming party to give 'Evolve' another chance and seriously only 1 person liked this game, but not enough to buy it. People kept asking, is this all there is too it? However when everybody saw the already available day 1 paid DLC, it literally made people sick to their stomachs.

Turtle Rocks 'Evolve' creative director Robb Phil stated "When Evolve hits the shelves; none of the DLC will be done". "However, Evolve launched with 44 DLC packs not included in the season pass... Each of these packs totaled over $130!"

1.0 out of 5 stars $60 dollar (or more) DLC store February 10, 2015
Platform for Display:PlayStation 4|Edition:Standard
This game is pretty good. It does something fairly new, and even more interesting. Asymmetrical competitive gameplay has been a draw for me ever since that beach level in Unreal Tournament. This 4v1 experience has been fun in alpha and beta (though very lacking in depth of content). It is a game that is fun to throw on for a couple rounds and then realize the content just isn't there.

However, the publisher's, and developer's, handling of the game is ludicrous. The game is tiny. Very tiny. This is reminiscent of an XboxLive or PSN arcade game in terms of content. $60 is a huge ask for this game. It looks beautiful, and plays well, but $60 is still too much of an ask. But don't worry. Take-Two and TurtleRock are asking much much more than that. There is the $60 game, a $24.99 season pass, $60 worth of dlc skins (that aren't even skins. They are just color changes), various confusing editions, and DLC plans.

This is a Free-2-Play game that is being sold as a full-game and taking advantage of customers on both sides.

Steer very very clear of this game. It is a $60 dollar (or more) DLC store.

1.0 out of 5 stars greed trending in next gen February 10, 2015
Platform for Display:PlayStation 4|Edition:Standard
because people are so eager and hopeful for next gen we have been buying into extremely overpriced games. I'm tired of the lies and the greed, this game simply isnt what it was hyped to be by people that produced it. They had a good idea, made the simplest form of it with a polished look, and squeezed every penny out of us that they could. If you know your game is lacking the least you can do is give us your "extras" for free and not try to DOUBLE your profit with it

1.0 out of 5 stars Shifty Price Model February 11, 2015
Platform for Display:PlayStation 4|Edition:Standard
I would put zero stars if I had to. This game had amazing potential but 2k had to get greedy and charge for EVERYTHING. Day 1 DLC is NEVER acceptable-- If you had it, you should have probably released it to players for free, especially at a $60 price point ($80 in Australia/NZ!). $140 worth of DLC which isn't included in the season pass? (an extra $20+ bucks tacked onto the game) Who do they think they are? It's completely insulting to players who really wanted this game to happen. Don't let 2K get away with this. Don't let them think that this sort of business model is okay to continue. Skip this purchase until 2K pulls their fat heads out of their wallets.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not worth $60, maybe $25. February 12, 2015
By Ss
Platform for Display:PlayStation 4|Edition:Standard
Let's just get this out of the way, yes the DLC sucks. Paying $15 for the next monster and $8 per new hunter is outrages and the skins should be unlockables.

Now that that's outta the way, the game itself isn't that bad but it isn't that good either. The story mode is basically multiplayer but with bots.

The multilayer is definitely the best part of this game though how much fun you have will largely depend on your team members (if you're the hunters) if your team members are bad or haven't played much it's almost always a guaranteed loss and it won't be much fun. If people actually play their roles and work together the experience is much better. If you have friends who you can play with the game is very very fun.

Annnnd while there are multiple maps I couldn't tell you which one is which as they all look the same.

4.0 out of 5 stars Let the smoke settle February 12, 2015
Platform for Display:PlayStation 4|Edition:Standard
There is a lot of wrong information being spread throughout the community about Evolve. I hope I can clear some of the smoke and stop some of the rumors surrounding it, including DLC content, base game content, future content, etc.

*Rumors/Wrong Information/Misleading information*

DLC
*DLC Prices: $120, $110, $60, $30* - THIS INFORMATION IS MISLEADING - The Season Pass is $24.99 which will include 4 new hunters (these hunters are not included in the base game) and Magma Skins for the current monsters.

People are including the monster skins as part of the DLC. Skins are $2.99 for one or $7.99 for all three monsters. There are a few different skins to choose from, however, in no way shape or form are these skins required to complete the game. These skins do not add any effects other than cosmetic. IMO the monsters look awesome as they come.

BASE GAME CONTENT
*Only 8 Hunters are included in base game; You must purchase the DLC to get all 12 hunters* - THIS INFORMATION IS NOT ONLY MISLEADING BUT ABSOLUTELY WRONG - All 12 hunters can be unlocked through normal BASE game progression. NO DLC PURCHASE REQUIRED.

When your game loads up you will see 12 hunters. 3 Hunters for each of the 4 classes are available. Of these 12 only 4 are unlocked. The other 8 are greyed out with a lock on them. Do not worry or assume! By playing each class tier you will unlock the next tier of characters.

Example: If you play as Hank (tier 1 support), as you complete Hanks level progression you will unlock Bucket (tier 2 support). Level progression includes completing little challenges such as: Deal X amount of damage with Hanks Laser Cutter. They are quite easy.

Its a fun game for about a week or so. There is nearly no replay value to this game. It gets very stale once you have unlocked all the characters; which isn't very hard.
